Meanwhile, on October 1st of this year, Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński signed a regulation extending the temporary border controls on Poland’s borders with Germany and Lithuania. The regulation will enter into force on October 5th and extend the controls for another six months, until April 4th, 2026.
“We are extending the controls in order to monitor the migration route that leads from the Baltic states, through Poland, to Western Europe. We are detaining individuals who attempt to illegally transport migrants to the West. The key task for the Border Guard remains maintaining the integrity and protection of the border with Belarus against migration pressure,” said Minister Marcin Kierwiński.
