On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, new operational capabilities of the Polish Special Forces were presented at the Central Air Force Training Range (CPSP) in Ustka. The event included a demonstration of two Saab CB90 (Combat Boat) assault landing craft and a presentation of Kurier unmanned cargo helicopters, a Polish research project.

Polska Zbrojna was the first to report on the demonstration yesterday, followed today by the Ministry of National Defence. The exercise in Ustka involved two CB90s, an S-70i Black Hawk International multirole helicopter, and two Kurier unmanned aircraft.
The Special Forces Component Command (DKWS) has not disclosed which unit received the Swedish-made assault landing craft (presumably Formoza or GROM Military Units – editor’s note), but they are already fully operational. During the demonstration, the CB90 crews were tasked with recovering cargo dropped into the water by a Kurier unmanned helicopter.

According to Polska Zbrojna, the unmanned helicopter was developed by a consortium comprising the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences as the leader, Fusioncopter, distributor of Lamanna Helicopter in Poland, and FlyFocus. The work was carried out under the research and development project titled Unmanned Aerial Transport Platform for Special Forces – Kurier, financed by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) and coordinated by the Ministry of National Defense.
The platform’s tactical and operational requirements were defined by DKWS. The unmanned helicopter is around 8 m long and 2.4 m high. Its take-off weight is 600 kg, of which its empty weight is 300–350 kg. In Ustka, one of the unmanned helicopters demonstrated carried a rocket launcher, while the other was configured for logistics transport, carrying a payload of more than 100 kg over a distance of more than 100 km.

Swedish company Saab Defence and Security currently offers the modernized CB90 Next Generation assault landing craft, which carries the designation Stridsbåt 90HSM (Halv pluton, Skydd samt Modifierad) in the Swedish Armed Forces. Eight of these boats are to be converted into artillery craft fitted with Patria NEMO Navy 120 mm mortars and Dillon M134D 7.62 mm powered machine guns under the Amfibiebataljon 2030 program.
The 15.9 m craft, with a full-load displacement of 20.5 t, can transport up to 20 troops at speeds of more than 20 kt. The boats have been exported to Greece, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Peru, and the United States, and more recently to Ukraine as part of Swedish military assistance. France and Germany have leased the craft for testing; in the previous decade, trials were conducted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, while Hungary is interested in purchasing them.

UPDATE
DKWS confirmed that the CB90 craft have entered service with Formoza Military Unit.
UPDATE 2
Former Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak revealed that the CB90s were purchased during his tenure at the Ministry of National Defense, and therefore before December 2023. It is worth adding that during a visit to Dziwnów on August 22, 2023, Combat Team C within JW Formoza was presented.
Kutry szturmowo-desantowe CB90 już służą w Wojskach Specjalnych. Warto przypomnieć jedno: to efekt decyzji podjętych jeszcze za rządów PiS.
To właśnie wtedy podpisano umowę, dzięki której na wyposażenie naszych specjalsów trafiają nowoczesne jednostki zdolne do działania… pic.twitter.com/B78EiSXPcF
