On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, British company Spectra Group, a specialist provider of secure voice, data, and satellite communications systems for the defense and security sector worldwide, announced that it had received the 2026 King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.

As stated in the press release, receiving this award is in itself a major achievement for any company, but for Spectra Group, receiving the United Kingdom’s most prestigious business distinction from Queen Elizabeth II in 2019 for innovation, and then from King Charles III in 2026 for international trade, is exceptional. The King’s Award for Enterprise is a globally recognized mark of excellence, honoring the outstanding achievements of each recipient. For Spectra Group, whose systems are trusted by active defense-sector customers around the world, it is a confirmation of operational credibility as much as commercial success.
Proven in Operation, Proven in Markets
Over the three-year assessment period, Spectra Group’s communications systems were deployed by military customers in Europe, the Americas, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Africa – including in new locations: the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Belgium, Indonesia, and Australia. This operational reach contributed to a 173% increase in overseas revenue during the period, with exports accounting for more than half of total turnover in fiscal year 2024.
Built on Operational Understanding
This operational reach is no accident. Spectra Group was founded by Simon Davies, a veteran who remains personally involved in customer relationships, and his ethos permeates the entire company. More than 60% of employees have been with the company for more than ten years, 40% are veterans themselves, and most of Spectra’s customers are active-duty military personnel. The result is an organization that understands first-hand what it means to rely on communications equipment when it is needed most, and adapts accordingly. The company’s motto, Trusted by the Best, is not a marketing slogan. It is a description of who buys the equipment and why they keep coming back.
Simon Davies, Chief Executive Officer of Spectra Group, said:
“Receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise is an honour of the highest order, and to receive it for International Trade, following our Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2019, reflects what this team has built over 24 years. Our customers are active military, operating in environments where communications failure is not an option. Their trust in Spectra Group is the standard we hold ourselves to every day, and this award is the clearest possible confirmation that we are meeting it. I am also acutely aware that this recognition belongs to every member of the Spectra Group team. With the recent launch of GENSS, our latest communications system, we have every reason to believe the best is still ahead of us…”
