Kongsberg presented its new Joint Strike Missile (JSM) project, developed with the Norwegian Air Force’s F-35 aircraft in mind. The design of the new missile is an adaptation of the well-known NSM missile (Second batch of JSM missiles ordered by the United States).

The new missile features an advanced guidance system that utilizes both maritime and land terrain data. Thanks to its modern navigation system, it is capable of conducting precise low-altitude flight. The missile is equipped with an automatic target recognition system based on an advanced infrared imaging sensor. The JSM can be used to engage both maritime and land targets.
The missile weighs 416 kg and is 4 m long. According to representatives of the Norwegian manufacturer, it will fit within the internal weapons bays of the F-35, thereby not increasing its radar signature. The missile reaches subsonic speeds and has a range of over 350 km.
Could the JSM interest the Polish Air Force? The Norwegians emphasize that the Polish Armed Forces already operate NSM missiles, which served as the basis for developing the air-launched version intended for F-35 aircraft.
