A New Era Without Transfer Fees
The year 2026 has brought a true breakthrough for American enthusiasts of muzzle devices and compact rifles. Until now, owning an SBR (a rifle with a barrel shorter than 16 inches) or a suppressor required burdensome paperwork and a 200 USD Tax Stamp for each item. Anyone wanting a short rifle with a sound suppressor had to factor in 400 USD in “freedom fees” alone. As of January 1, 2026, both of these fees have been eliminated, triggering an immediate response from major industry players.
Ruger PCC and 10/22 in "Mini" versions
Ruger wasted no time and introduced shortened variants of its flagship models:
- Ruger PC Carbine (PCC): Now equipped with a 6.5-inch barrel, making it an ultra-compact platform suited for dynamic shooting competitions and recreational use.
- Ruger 10/22: The iconic rimfire rifle now comes in two new SBR configurations: the Model 33000 with an 8-inch barrel and the Model 33001 Takedown (separable configuration) featuring a 10-inch barrel.
All three new models are fitted with a standard 1/2×28 thread, and with suppressor fees eliminated, they provide an ideal host platform for a can.

A Stronger Statement: American Rifle Gen II Patrol
The American Rifle Gen II Patrol has also been shortened. Its barrel has been reduced from 16.1 inches to 12.5 inches. The model debuts in the new .338 ARC caliber, features a 5/8″-24 threaded muzzle, and feeds from standard AR-pattern magazines (a 5-round magazine is included). Versions in additional calibers are expected to follow in subsequent quarters of 2026.
More for less
The new 10/22 models make the biggest impression. Ruger has factory-equipped them with components that previously required costly aftermarket upgrades:
- BX-Trigger fire control group
- Auto Bolt Release
- AR-15–style stock with an adjustable, folding buttstock
By purchasing the complete SBR package, buyers save approximately 25% compared to assembling a similar setup from individual aftermarket parts.
Availability
The new models are already available on store shelves in the United States. Although their path to Europe may take some time, Polish distributors typically move quickly to import Ruger’s latest releases – so it may be worth starting to set funds aside.
U.S. pricing is as follows:
- Ruger 10/22 SBR: from 649 USD
- Ruger PCC SBR: 1,059 USD
- Ruger American Patrol SBR: 769 USD
