On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the Polish Cyberspace Defence Force Component Command (DK WOC) announced that, as part of the certification process, selected security mechanisms of the Samsung Knox platform on Samsung Galaxy S23 and S24 mobile devices have received the appropriate authorization for use in a military environment.
The process confirmed compliance with security requirements in the area of cryptographic mechanisms and their correct implementation within commercial mobile platform environments. The project serves as an example of effective, partnership-based cooperation between state institutions responsible for cyberspace security and a global provider of advanced technologies.
Of particular importance was the involvement of cryptologists from the Cyberspace Defence Force Component Command (DK WOC), who were responsible for conducting cryptologic research and assessing the solutions from the perspective of military security requirements, as well as close cooperation with Samsung R&D specialists, which enabled an in-depth analysis of the platforms’ security architecture.
This represents a step toward broader use of modern commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions to protect classified information in military systems organized by DK WOC. The issuance of the certificate confirms that commercial solutions, after meeting stringent requirements and undergoing specialized testing, can be effectively adapted for environments involving the processing of classified information. Such an approach provides access to innovative technologies, shortens deployment cycles, reduces acquisition costs, and increases interoperability, while maintaining the required security standards.
The project is the result of cooperation between Samsung Electronics Poland and the military sector, initiated by an agreement signed on November 21, 2024, between the Commander of the Cyberspace Defence Force Component Command and the then President of Samsung Electronics Poland, Conor Pierce.
The activities undertaken strengthen national capabilities in cryptology, expand the portfolio of solutions for building IT systems, and confirm the importance of cooperation between public administration and the technology industry in building a modern and resilient cybersecurity ecosystem.
Cooperation between DK WOC and Samsung Electronics Poland
The aim of this initiative is cooperation in strengthening cybersecurity and developing innovative solutions, telecommunications technologies, and electronic systems.
The agreement covers a broad range of activities, including the development and deployment of innovative solutions, telecommunications technologies, and cybersecurity systems; the exchange of expert knowledge; the implementation of joint research and development projects; and the testing of modern technologies. Newly developed solutions will be applied in both the public and defense sectors.
The agreement continues activities undertaken under the Cybersecurity Cooperation Program, which Samsung Electronics Poland joined in 2019. The program is implemented by the Ministry of Digital Affairs as a public–private partnership and aims to enhance the cybersecurity of the Republic of Poland.
