The formal contracting authority is Naval Sea Systems Command, and the contract is valued at 271.5 million USD. It also includes an option that could increase the total value to 302.5 million USD. The order is expected to be completed by the end of 2032. In addition to deliveries for the US Navy, the contractor will provide small packages to two export customers, Australia and Japan, accounting for 3% of the contract value. According to the contracting authority, the order covers not only Mk 99 system components, but also spare parts and modules required for upgrades to the Aegis combat system.

The Mk 99 is a shipborne missile fire-control system used aboard vessels equipped with the Aegis combat system. Its primary role is to control the preparation, launch, and terminal guidance of SM-2-family surface-to-air missiles and other semi-active radar-guided weapons. In this role, it acts as a link between the ship’s weapons and the SPY-1/6 radar system, which forms the core of Aegis.
Mk 99 system antennas are installed aboard Aegis-equipped guided-missile destroyers and cruisers. In the United States, this currently means the large fleet of Arleigh Burke-class destroyers. Japan operates eight Aegis-equipped destroyers, while Australia operates three.
