Rheinmetall will be present in the Romanian capital as a strong partner for international defense and security forces. Under the motto “Freedom needs enablers,” the Düsseldorf-based technology group will once again present users, procurement officials, and other visitors with a broad range of systems and products from its portfolio of vehicle systems, weapons and ammunition, and electronic solutions. Highlights will include:
KF41 Lynx: Rheinmetall’s next-generation infantry fighting vehicle, presented with the MK30-2/ABM main armament and the MSSA (Main Sensor Slaved Armament) weapon station. Rheinmetall can offer its customers tailored concepts for local production capabilities and technology transfer. At BSDA, the infantry fighting vehicle will be presented with a Lance turret and a 30 mm MK30-2/ABM automatic cannon as its main armament (The Lynx was selected by Romania under the SAFE program ‒ editor’s note).
Air defense: Highly mobile, modular, and scalable ground-based air-defense systems are becoming increasingly important as NATO and European armed forces focus on national and allied defense. At BSDA, Rheinmetall will present the 35 mm Oerlikon Revolver Gun Mk3 as part of the Oerlikon Skynex air-defense system, which can be mounted on various truck platforms. The system was also selected by Romania under SAFE.
HX family of logistics vehicles: This family is characterized by exceptional off-road mobility, versatility, and a high level of protection available as an option. This enables a wide range of applications, from military logistics to specialized tactical roles. The HX3 model will be presented at BSDA.
Soldier systems: These integrate the individual soldier into a networked operational-management system through comprehensive digitalization. Rheinmetall will present the latest generation of its Gladius 2.0 soldier system in various variants.
Ammunition expertise: Rheinmetall, one of the world’s leading ammunition manufacturers, is accelerating its global expansion to strengthen sovereign defense capabilities in NATO and partner countries.
In the field of 155 mm artillery ammunition, Rheinmetall plans to achieve an annual production capacity of 1.1 million rounds by 2027. This is to be increased to 1.5 million rounds by 2030. For tank ammunition, production capacity is planned to increase to 240,000 rounds per year from 2027. Medium-caliber ammunition production is to be increased to 3.4 million rounds by 2027 and to 4 million rounds by 2030.
Rheinmetall is building an ammunition network with global reach but sovereign capabilities, ensuring that customers can rely on the group to meet their most critical defense needs in any situation.
Naval systems: With the acquisition of NVL Group, Rheinmetall has become a company offering complete systems across all domains. The new Naval Systems division, led by NVL B.V. & Co. KG, offers maritime solutions in the field of surface-ship construction. The division includes four highly specialized shipyards in northern Germany: Blohm+Voss and Norderwerft in Hamburg, Peene-Werft in Wolgast, and Neue Jadewerft in Wilhelmshaven. Internationally, the division has engineering offices and branches in Egypt, Brunei, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Singapore.
As a specialist in the design and production of high-technology warships and coast guard vessels, the Naval Systems division is responsible for ongoing procurement programs for the German Navy, as well as for the navies of other NATO countries.
