The order covers one complete system comprising two unmanned aerial vehicles and one command-and-control station. The package also includes logistics equipment, transport cases, and training for four operators and two instructors. An option provides for the purchase of an additional platform equipped with a thermal imaging payload. The contract is to be completed by November 15, 2026.

The system will be supplied by a consortium comprising Parasnake Arkadiusz Szewczyk, acting as the leader, and Mildat Sp. z o.o. Parasnake represents US company AeroVironment Inc. in Poland, a manufacturer known for lightweight unmanned aircraft used by the armed forces of numerous countries. In July 2023, Parasnake supplied a similar system to Formoza, indicating continued cooperation and greater equipment standardization within the unit.
Although the tender documentation does not identify a specific model, the contracting authority’s requirements indicate that the system is most likely the Puma 3AE, one of AeroVironment’s best-known unmanned aircraft.
Key characteristics of the platform include:
- maximum takeoff weight — approximately 7 kg;
- operational range — up to 60 km when using an additional communications antenna;
- endurance — approximately 3 hours;
- hand launch — particularly important for operations from small boats;
- water landing capability — improving safety during operations over water.
These characteristics make the Puma 3AE particularly suitable for special operations units conducting maritime, reconnaissance, and direct-action missions.
Formoza has for years been developing its reconnaissance capabilities in maritime and littoral environments. Mini-class unmanned aircraft capable of water landings and operation from small rigid-hull inflatable boats provide an important addition to the unit’s equipment. They enable covert surveillance, improve operators’ situational awareness, support operations at sea and in coastal areas, and allow rapid responses to threats during special operations. The procurement forms part of a broader modernization trend within the Polish Special Forces, which continue to invest in lightweight, mobile ISR systems.
