Polish President meets Armed Forces command staff

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the President of the Republic of Poland, Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Armed Forces, Karol Nawrocki, met with the command staff of the Polish Armed Forces. The purpose of the meeting was to further specify the guidelines and expectations regarding the development directions of the Polish Armed Forces presented by the President during this year’s annual review and task-setting briefing of the Ministry of National Defence leadership.

The President also discussed international security issues with the commanders in the context of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The meeting with the President of the Republic of Poland was attended by:

• Gen. Wiesław Kukuła – Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces,
• Lt. Gen. Marek Sokołowski – General Commander of the Armed Forces,
• Lt. Gen. Maciej Klisz – Operational Commander of the Armed Forces,
• Maj. Gen. Krzysztof Stańczyk – Commander of the Territorial Defence Forces,
• Brig. Gen. Mariusz Chmielewski – Deputy Commander of the Cyber Defense Forces Component,
• Brig. Gen. Michał Strzelecki – Commander of the Special Forces Component,
• Maj. Gen. Dariusz Mendrala – Chief of the Armed Forces Support Inspectorate.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the National Security Bureau, Minister Sławomir Cenckiewicz.

UPDATE

Immediately following the meeting with the President, the Head of the National Security Bureau, Minister Sławomir Cenckiewicz, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, held a briefing with the command staff of the Polish Armed Forces.

During the briefing, an assessment of threats to the security of the Republic of Poland was presented. Issues related to the international situation and its consequences for the functioning and safety of soldiers and personnel of the Ministry of National Defence serving in Polish Military Contingents operating in the Middle East region were also discussed.

The briefing was attended by the above-mentioned officers of the Polish Armed Forces, as well as the Head of the International Policy Bureau, Marcin Przydacz; Deputy Heads of the National Security Bureau, Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Mirosław Bryś and Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Andrzej Kowalski; and the Director of the Department for Oversight of the Armed Forces and Uniformed Services, Maj. Gen. Adam Rzeczkowski.
