On Monday, September 15, 2025, at the premises of the 6th Airborne Brigade in Kraków, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, together with Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk, took part in the ceremony establishing the Medical Forces Command.

“That is why today in Kraków we are establishing the Medical Forces Command, that is why we are creating the medical forces headquartered in Kraków, so that we can develop the entire field of battlefield medicine, so that we can strengthen our personnel, both soldiers and civilians working in hospitals and clinics, who will assist us and provide help not only in times of danger. (…) The medical forces must be ready to expand their capabilities also, and I would like to say, always, but above all in times of peace. However, the most important thing is to be well prepared for times of crisis, for times of direct threat, for times of war,” said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense.
“We have designated the Medical Forces Command, and this is a great task – to organize such an undertaking. It does not start entirely from scratch, because we already have the military health service and excellent military hospitals, such as the one here in Kraków – the 5th Military Clinical Hospital with Polyclinic. (…) Minister Tomczyk proposed Colonel Mariusz Kiszka – a doctor, a soldier of the Polish Armed Forces, until now deputy director of the Military Hospital in Wrocław – as commander of the Medical Forces, and this is a very strong recommendation. I met Colonel Kiszka a year ago during the floods, when he urgently organized medical support for the hospital in Nysa, and today he faces a great challenge. With full responsibility, I appoint you to the position of commander of the Medical Forces, responsible for shaping this component, formulating the strategy, and carrying out actions for the security of the Polish state, linked with cooperation between the civilian sector and the leading role of the Military Health Service,” emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.
“One of the first tasks set by the Minister – both for me and for the General Staff – was the creation of the medical forces. I am glad that today we are completing one stage and beginning another – precisely so that the medical forces can start functioning, to prepare the Polish state for any possible scenario together with the Minister of Health, together with the voivodes, together with the Polish Armed Forces. I also have the particular privilege that my superior is not only the Minister of Defense, but also a doctor. I believe that the task given to us from the very beginning also stems from the conviction that at the very center of everything we talk about in the context of the armed forces – whether it concerns the equipment of soldiers or health matters – is the human being. And that is exactly the case: at the center is the soldier, his health and security, and the equipment he fights with. We want every soldier’s opinion to matter, because the agency of soldiers on the modern battlefield truly has enormous significance,” emphasized Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defense, Cezary Tomczyk.
