On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the 3rd Regional Logistics Base in Kraków (3. The subject of the contract is the repair and maintenance of components of the Gladius BSP-U system. Detailed terms for the performance of the contract and the description of the subject of the contract will be included in the draft contractual provisions and the Operational and Technical Requirements, which will be made available at the second stage of the procedure to contractors invited to submit bids.
The deadline for submitting requests to participate in the procedure will expire on June 1, 2026, at 11:30. The bid selection criteria will be the price per one labor hour at the contractor’s premises (30%), the price per one labor hour at the user’s premises (30%), and the warranty period for components, subassemblies, and improvements (40%). The contract must be completed within five months from the date of its conclusion.
The choice of the accelerated procedure is justified by the urgent need to award the contract. Due to the intensive use of the equipment resulting from current operational and training tasks, and the risk of reducing the level of state security in the event of long-term withdrawal of the equipment from service, there is an urgent need to carry out repairs and maintenance of the military equipment in question.
Gladius reconnaissance and strike system
The Gladius BSP-U is designed to carry out precision strikes against targets at ranges of up to 100 km and to conduct aerial imagery reconnaissance using the FT-5 reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle variant, equipped with electro-optical heads capable of recording imagery both in daylight and with thermal imaging, including SAR and ELINT versions. The system’s effectors are Gladius strike unmanned aerial vehicles, integrated with the Topaz fire-control system used by the Polish Armed Forces. A BMO includes launchers, command vehicles, ammunition vehicles, technical support vehicles, and a stock of Gladius strike unmanned aerial vehicles.
Gladius is an entirely Polish development. In addition to the Topaz integrated battlefield management system, command and communications solutions, including the Fonet digital vehicular communications platform, computer terminals, active LAN and WAN network elements, and tactical radios, as well as integration into a single coherent system, are provided by WB Group. The prime contractor is WB Electronics, while the subcontractors are WB Group companies Flytronic and ZAiUP Arex, as well as Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), part of Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), which supplies Waran 4×4 tactical multipurpose vehicle chassis in command and launcher vehicle variants.
The program to acquire Gladius BSP-U BMOs was included in the Technical Modernization Plan of the Polish Armed Forces for 2021–2035, signed by then-Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak on October 10, 2019. Deliveries to the Polish Armed Forces are the result of a 2 billion PLN contract for the Gladius BSP-U, signed on May 6, 2022, between the State Treasury, represented by the Armament Agency, and WB Electronics. The contract covers the delivery of four system BMOs together with training and logistics packages. The logistics package includes the delivery of maintenance kits and a service package for unmanned aerial vehicles, while the training package, in addition to personnel training, includes BSP-UT training unmanned aerial vehicles and Gladius BSP-U simulators.
The first BMO of the Gladius BSP-U system was delivered to the 18th Artillery Brigade, according to WB Group information from December 18, 2024, with deliveries having begun in December 2022. Deliveries were preceded by verification tests, according to information released on December 5, 2023. The systems were then delivered to the 1st Masurian Artillery Brigade in autumn 2024, the 14th Suwałki Anti-Tank Regiment on December 15, 2025, and the 5th Artillery Regiment from Sulechów on December 25, 2025. The system is currently being offered in Romania.
