On Thursday, 5 February 2026, Hanwha Aerospace Europe announced that representatives of the General Tadeusz Kościuszko Military University of Land Forces (MULF), as part of a study and training visit, toured key Hanwha Group facilities located in the Republic of Korea. The program is being conducted at the invitation of the Hanwha Group and represents another stage in long-term educational cooperation under the Hanwha Global Challenger social initiative.

The visit is a direct continuation of activities initiated during last year’s MSPO defense exhibition in Kielce and implemented in Poland in 2025. These included, among other initiatives, the establishment of modern multimedia Hanwha Smart Learning Laboratories at the university in Wrocław, as well as a scholarship program for its students. The current phase of the project focuses on providing practical insight into South Korea’s security system, defense industry, and its model for educating future officers and defense sector specialists.
The study and training visit, which began on 31 January 2026, included tours of key Hanwha companies operating in the defense sector, including Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems, and Hanwha Ocean.
The main highlight of the program was a visit to Hanwha Aerospace’s facilities in Changwon, where the delegation reviewed the production of 155 mm K9PL self-propelled howitzers and Homar-K multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) intended for the Polish Armed Forces.
Participants also had the opportunity to explore future technological development paths, including the K9A2 variant — an automated version of the artillery system designed to meet future operational requirements such as increased efficiency and reduced crew size. For future officers, this provided insight into capabilities that may strengthen Poland’s defense potential in the coming years.
The visit program underscored Poland’s importance as a key Hanwha partner in Europe. By combining technology transfer with investment in human capital development, Hanwha emphasizes its commitment not only to delivering advanced systems but also to building the competencies of those who will operate them in the future.
As emphasized by Jacek Cyrek, President of the Management Board of Hanwha Aerospace Europe:
“Poland plays a key role in Hanwha’s strategy in Europe. Cooperation with the Military University of Land Forces is an investment in the future leaders of security who, in the coming decades, will be responsible for the defense capabilities of the state and the region. The Hanwha Global Challenger program combines education, technology, and responsibility, creating lasting foundations for cooperation between Poland and the Republic of Korea.”
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Artur Żelichowski, head of the delegation from the Military University of Land Forces, stated:
“The solutions developed by Hanwha demonstrate the Republic of Korea’s position as one of the global leaders in defense technology. We are extremely grateful for the hospitality and the opportunity to gain insight into future capabilities that support, and will continue to support, the security of our country.”
Hanwha Global Challenger is one of the most comprehensive corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives implemented by the Korean defense industry in Europe. It combines modern educational infrastructure, international training programs, and a scholarship support system for students (Hanwha and the Land Forces Military Academy Complete the Next Stage of the Global Challenger Program).
