On Monday, October 27, 2025, Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) announced it had signed a strategic cooperation agreement with U.S. company Anduril Industries to jointly develop and produce a Polish-localized version of the Barracuda-500M cruise missile and offer it to the Polish Armed Forces.
Participants in the signing included PGZ CEO Adam Leszkiewicz, Anduril Europe Vice President Brian Moran, Deputy Minister of State Assets Konrad Gołota, former U.S. Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski, and PGZ Vice President Marcin Idzik.
“By combining PGZ’s industrial potential with Anduril’s experience, we will introduce to our market a solution that meets the requirements of the Polish Armed Forces. We are opening new areas of activity related to cruise missiles and rocket technology. Today’s agreement paves the way for technology transfer, joint R&D work, and equipment development, which will strengthen the security not only of Poland but of the entire eastern flank of NATO,” said Adam Leszkiewicz, CEO of PGZ.
“Today shows that Polish Armaments Group is gaining a new quality – we are entering areas that will support Poland’s deterrence strategy. We want to continue strengthening Poland’s security and defense capabilities,” added Marcin Idzik, PGZ Vice President.
“Poland is betting on development, technology, and global security. We are stepping into the future of the defense industry – opening the eyes of doubters and showing that we can do it,” noted Konrad Gołota, Deputy Minister of State Assets.
“Poland is a key strategic partner. Cooperation with PGZ on localizing production of Barracuda missiles demonstrates how allied industry and sovereign suppliers can deliver rapidly scalable and cost-effective solutions,” said Brian Moran, Vice President of Anduril Europe.
The agreement aims at the joint development and production of autonomous aerial systems for the Polish Armed Forces, including a Polish version of the Barracuda-500M cruise missile.

Analysis
On September 12, 2024, Anduril Industries unveiled a new family of Barracuda-M cruise missiles, comprising the Barracuda-100M, Barracuda-250M, and Barracuda-500M. According to the manufacturer, these are disposable, autonomous aerial vehicles powered by a turbojet engine, designed for low-cost mass production. The missiles are intended to be launchable from manned and unmanned aircraft, helicopters, as well as sea and land platforms.
All presented Barracuda variants share a similar overall layout: a pair of retractable wings mid-fuselage and folding tail fins at the rear. Conformal air intakes feed their propulsion systems. The manufacturer states a maximum speed of about 926 km/h (500 knots) for all three missiles, up to 5 g maneuvering load, and over 120 minutes of endurance.
The Barracuda-500 is the largest in the family, with a payload of over 45 kg (100 lb) and a range of up to 926 km (500 nautical miles). It is intended for multirole aircraft and bombers, but also for transport aircraft configured to carry palletized missiles that are air-dropped and launched in flight (for example under the U.S. Rapid Dragon program for MC-130J Commando II special operations support aircraft, or similar initiatives in Japan). This variant is being offered in a program for low-cost cruise missiles under the ETV (Enterprise Test Vehicle) project.
On June 8, 2025, Rheinmetall AG announced a strategic cooperation with Anduril to integrate the next-generation digital communications suite Battlesuite with Anduril’s autonomous Barracuda and Fury unmanned systems and with solid-propellant rocket motors, offering these solutions to European markets.
On July 16, 2025, Anduril reported another test of the smallest family member, the Barracuda-100M. As part of the HSMM (High-Speed Maneuverable Missile) program run by the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center (CCDC AvMC), a further series of flight tests was successfully conducted in May 2025.
