The contract signed today is another important stage in the implementation of the Miecznik programme. Frigates built at PGZ Stocznia Wojenna will receive effective protection against many types of threats, both underwater and missile. More than 150 ships sailing under the flags of navies from all over the world are equipped with similar, proven systems, said Andrzej Wojtkiewicz, Director of the Miecznik Programme at PGZ Stocznia Wojenna.

The Terma C-Guard is a ship’s direct defense system designed to counter missile and torpedo strikes. The system is based on battle-proven decoy launchers and mechanical construction without moving parts, providing 360-degree coverage for the defended ship. C-Guard is characterized by relatively low maintenance requirements, thus ensuring high operational availability and low total ownership cost.

Terma is proud to announce the signing of a strategic agreement with PGZ Stocznia Wojenna for a cost-efficient self-protection solution in the Miecznik program. Our C-Guard decoy launching system offers unmatched operational availability and capability against multiple threats, ensuring the best and lowest cost of ownership. We extend our gratitude to the Miecznik team at PGZ for their efficient collaboration, laying the foundation for a strong, long-term partnership – said Martin T. Jentsch – Sales Director, Naval Sales at Terma.

Three modern Miecznik frigates for the Polish Navy will be built at the PGZ Stocznia Wojenna shipyard in cooperation with leading defense industry players (Babcock, MBDA, Thales), under the largest contract in the history of the Polish shipbuilding industry awarded in 2021. The first frigate will be constructed by 2026. The project’s implementation in Poland will create around 2000 jobs in shipyards, defense companies, and other industries directly involved in the project. The acquired competencies will enable the development of new capabilities and assist in work on other projects for the Polish Navy (Lockheed Martin will provide Mk 41 VLS launchers for the Miecznik frigates).

Multi-role units of this class will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Polish Navy and enable the execution of a wide range of tasks at sea, including, among others, securing sea routes and critical infrastructure (Wicher’s keel is laid).

PGZ SW signed a contract with Terma for the delivery of the ship’s direct defense system C-Guard, which will be used in the construction of frigates in the Miecznik program for Polish Navy. It will provide effective protection against various types of threats, both underwater and missile.
