Over 700 Russian drones and missiles have attacked Ukraine

Russia carried out another air and missile strike on Ukraine, launching 704 combat devices overnight, mostly drones, targeting eight regions.

On Saturday, December 6, 2025, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that since yesterday at 6 p.m., Russia has carried out another air and missile attack on critical infrastructure, launching 632 combat devices, mostly drones, at eight regions.

Photo: National Police of Ukraine

The Russians launched:

  • 653 unmanned aerial vehicles, including more than 300 of the Geran/Shahed type and drone decoys of various types (including the Gerbera), from the directions of Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Chauda in Crimea;
  • 3 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aero-ballistic/hypersonic missiles from the Ryazan and Tambov regions;
  • 34 Kh-101/Iskander-K/Kalibr cruise missiles from the Rostov region and the Black Sea;
  • 14 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk region, the Rostov region, Krasnodar Krai, and Crimea.

The attack was repelled by the Air Force, air-defense missile units, electronic warfare (EW) units and unmanned systems, as well as mobile air-defense groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, by 10:00 a.m. local time, air-defense systems had shot down or forced the destruction of 615 aerial targets, including 585 drones, 29 Kh-101/Iskander-K/Kalibr missiles, and 1 Iskander-M/KN-23 missile. So far, 21 missile impacts and 60 drone impacts have been recorded at 29 locations, and debris has fallen in 3 locations (at the time of publication, the attack was still underway, with several drones remaining in the air – editor’s note).

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky:

Repair efforts are currently underway in many regions following last night’s Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure. Unfortunately, there has been some damage. The main building of the railway station in Fastiv burned down in a drone attack. The attack was senseless from a military point of view, and the Russians could not have been unaware of that. There were also attacks on industrial facilities and residential buildings in the Kyiv region. The Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Lviv, Volyn and Mykolaiv regions were also affected. More than 650 drones and 51 missiles, including aeroballistic and ballistic ones, were used. Damage has been recorded in the regions, and all those affected are receiving assistance.

The main target of these attacks, once again, was energy infrastructure. Russia seeks to inflict suffering on millions of Ukrainians and goes so far as to fire missiles at peaceful cities on St. Nicholas Day. This is precisely why additional pressure is needed. Sanctions must work, just as our air defense must work — meaning we must maintain support for those who protect lives. I thank everyone who is working on this.

At 4:13 a.m., the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command (DO RSZ) issued a statement:

Attention. Due to the activity of long-range aviation of the Russian Federation carrying out strikes on the territory of Ukraine, military aircraft have begun operating in Polish airspace.

In accordance with established procedures, the Operational Command has activated the necessary forces and assets at its disposal. Fighter jets have been scrambled, and ground-based air-defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached a state of readiness.

These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at securing and protecting airspace, especially in areas adjacent to threatened regions. The Operational Command is monitoring the current situation, and the forces and assets under its authority remain ready to respond immediately.

Another statement was issued at 7:57 a.m.:

The operation of military aircraft in Polish airspace, related to the Russian Federation’s strikes on Ukraine, has ended. Activated ground-based air-defense and radar reconnaissance systems have returned to standard operational activity.

We inform you that no violation of Polish airspace was observed.

We thank NATO, NATO’s Allied Air Command, the Spanish Air Force, and the Czech Armed Forces, whose aircraft helped ensure safety in Polish skies today. We also extend our thanks to the Bundeswehr and the Netherlands Armed Forces for supporting Poland’s airspace protection with their air-defense systems.

In accordance with the principles of Operation Eastern Aurora, we are continuously monitoring the situation on the territory of Ukraine and remain in constant readiness to ensure the security of Polish airspace.

In Lubartów, in the Lublin Voivodeship, warning sirens were activated, as announced by Mayor Krzysztof Paśnik:

Dear residents, after receiving a signal from the County Crisis Management Center, we activated warning signals in Lubartów in accordance with the applicable procedures. The sirens were activated due to the current situation in Ukraine.

Lubratów County

❗️Announcement

On December 6, 2025, at 5:30 a.m., the County Crisis Management Center (PCZK) in Lubartów received, via streaming, a message about an immediate threat of air strikes to Lubartów County. PCZK Lubartów decided to initiate Procedure SPO-13, informing crisis-management staff from the towns/municipalities within the county about the need to activate alarm sirens. Upon arriving at the location used for monitoring the warning radio network, the County Office in Lubartów, PCZK staff contacted by phone the duty officer at the Voivodeship Crisis Management Center (WCZK) in Lublin to verify the message about the immediate air threat to Lubartów County. The duty officer at WCZK Lublin did not confirm the information about an immediate air threat. After receiving this information, PCZK Lubartów staff contacted again the crisis employees from the towns/municipalities in Lubartów County, instructing them to cancel the alert by reactivating the alarm sirens. The Lubartów County Governor was also informed. Alarm sirens warning of an immediate air threat were activated in nine municipalities (the City of Lubartów, Ostrów Lubelski, Uścimów, Firlej, Michów, Kamionka, Abramów, Jeziorzany, Niedźwiada).

The initiation of Procedure SPO-13 – concerning alerting and warning about an air threat in Lubartów County – did not result from system information confirmed by the WCZK in Lublin, but from unverified information received through streaming monitoring. This error resulted from human factors.
