OBRUM will participate in the development of the European tank of the future

The Research and Development Centre for Mechanical Equipment OBRUM, part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), will play an important role in the ambitious European Defence Fund (EDF) program, which aims to create a new generation European main battle tank.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the Research and Development Centre for Mechanical Equipment OBRUM, part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), announced that it will play an important role in the ambitious European Defence Fund (EDF) program, which aims to create a new generation European main battle tank.

The Research and Development Center OBRUM has been qualified and announced by leading European partners as the ideal candidate to participate in the mentioned program for developing a European main battle tank. Decisions regarding the funding for the analytical and conceptual phase of this strategic project for Europe were made a few days ago. This recognition highlights OBRUM’s experience and potential on an international scale. With over five decades of activity in the design and modernization of tanks and engineering vehicles, OBRUM guarantees the highest quality and success in the joint project. The strong potential of PGZ as a Group played an important role in forming the project consortium.

As part of its operations, OBRUM offers a comprehensive package of services: from design, research, and development, to support in the form of technical assistance, integration, implementation, and maintenance services. The company supplies, among other things, MS-20 Daglezja bridgelayer vehicles for the Polish Armed Forces. As an expert company in modern, digital training solutions, OBRUM provides simulators used at the Leopard Training Center in Świętoszów.

OBRUM’s participation in the EDF program for developing a new generation European main battle tank will bring numerous benefits to Poland. The project will strengthen the country’s defense potential through technology transfer. Collaboration in the program means an exchange of valuable knowledge. The cooperation of a dozen of the largest European defense companies will lead to the development of new innovations.
