Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine
Currently, the liquidation of the consequences of the massive Russian strike is underway in the Kyiv region, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Mykolaiv regions. All necessary services have been involved. The main target for the Russians was the energy sector of the Kyiv region, but, unfortunately, ordinary houses, schools, and civilian enterprises have also been hit and damaged. As of now, four people have died. My condolences to all relatives and friends. Many are injured, and people are still turning to medical workers.
During this night, the Russians used about 430 drones of various types and a significant number of missiles. There were only 13 ballistic missiles, the total number of missiles in this strike was 68. According to preliminary data, 58 of them were shot down by our air defense system. And each such night of Russian strikes is a reminder to all our partners that air defense systems and missiles for them are practically a daily need. Every agreement for the supply of missiles cannot wait – everything must be implemented as soon as possible. Our agreements to increase the production of air defense missiles are a critical area, and this area requires 100 percent attention. Russia will try to take advantage of the war in the Middle East to destroy more here, in Europe, in Ukraine. That is why we need to consciously approach the real level of threat and prepare accordingly, namely: we in Europe need to develop such production of missiles for air defense – and especially against ballistics – and all other necessary systems that will allow us to really protect life, no matter what happens in any other part of the world. Europe is able to provide such reliable protection. Thank you to everyone who helps!

At 2:57 a.m., the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command issued the following statement:
Attention. Due to the activity of long-range aviation of the Russian Federation conducting strikes on the territory of Ukraine, operations of Polish and allied aircraft have commenced in our airspace.
In accordance with established procedures, the Operational Commander activated the necessary forces and assets at his disposal. Quick reaction alert fighter pairs and an airborne early warning aircraft were scrambled, while ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems reached the highest level of readiness.
These measures are preventive in nature and are aimed at securing and protecting the airspace, particularly in areas adjacent to threatened regions.
The Operational Command, in line with the assumptions of Operation Eastern Dawn, is monitoring the situation in Ukraine and remains ready to ensure the security of Polish airspace.
