Anti-drone shotguns are an increasingly popular topic
The full-scale conflict in Ukraine will be remembered in history, among other things, for the intensive and truly revolutionary use of unmanned platforms, primarily aerial ones. Large and small alike, they pose a direct threat to individual soldiers, small units, and vehicles. Both sides are continuously introducing new solutions intended to counter this threat. One of the simplest and widely used solutions at the squad level is the smoothbore shotgun. On both sides of the conflict, forces use traditional double-barrel hunting shotguns, as well as pump-action and semi-automatic designs.
However, these are solutions adapted from other roles. Manufacturers are responding to market demand by developing weapons with features that better specialize them for this task. One such manufacturer is Fabarm, which has introduced dedicated “anti-drone” variants within its proven STF12 and P.S.S. 10 product lines.

What sets Fabarm’s anti-drone shotguns apart?
First, Fabarm has been supplying its firearms to uniformed services for many years, including in Poland. Its product portfolio includes both pump-action shotguns (the modular STF12 model) and semi-automatic designs such as the P.S.S. 10. Within both of these product lines, dedicated anti-drone variants have been introduced. At IWA 2026, the company presented models differing, among other things, in barrel lengths and stock configurations (including adjustable and folding stocks), giving institutions looking for this type of weapon the ability to select a configuration suited to their needs. It is also worth noting the modular design of Fabarm shotguns and the wide range of available accessories.
To adapt the shotguns for the anti-drone role, Fabarm introduced several modifications. The first is a new set of mechanical sights, which can be aligned very quickly and almost intuitively. The distinctive rib with a white line allows the shooter to rapidly pick up the high-contrast, highly visible fiber-optic front sight.
Another modification is the XL Range choke, designed to extend the effective range of the shotgun. As experiences from Ukraine have shown, even a disabled drone may still pose a threat due to its momentum. For this reason, it is important to neutralize it from the greatest possible distance.
Among the other features of Fabarm shotguns, their ergonomic adaptation for use by uniformed services stands out. The trigger guard is large, and the controls are easy to locate and operate thanks to their placement and size. Once again, the modular design should be highlighted, allowing the shotguns to be easily adapted at the user level to specific operational requirements.
Particular attention was drawn to the telescopic stock with a wide range of adjustment, including several length-of-pull positions and adjustable cheek rest height. When properly fitted, this type of stock should significantly help the user achieve a consistent shooting position, which may prove crucial in highly dynamic situations.
What impression do Fabarm shotguns make?
Each time one has the opportunity to try a Fabarm shotgun, a clear step up in quality can be felt. In addition to their well-thought-out design and modularity, the shotguns impress with the extremely smooth operation of the pump-action mechanism. Other members of the editorial team, who have practical experience with the STF12, also speak very positively about it.
