On Wednesday, 18 February 2026, the Italian group Leonardo and Spain’s Indra Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of cyber defense. The aim of the agreement is to jointly identify opportunities and expand the international reach of both companies across Europe, NATO, and other high-potential markets. Through this cooperation, the two companies will strengthen their capabilities to accelerate innovation and enhance the cyber defense of institutions and critical infrastructure by providing advanced solutions, specialized training, and coordinated responses to increasingly complex threats.

The agreement was signed at Leonardo’s headquarters in Rome by the CEO of Indra Group, José Vicente de los Mozos, and Roberto Cingolani, CEO and General Manager of Leonardo.
The agreement also provides for the joint provision of managed cyber defense services for public and private sector clients.
Roberto Cingolani, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Leonardo, stated:
“In a world where digital threats are evolving rapidly and becoming increasingly pervasive, and in a landscape of fragmented technological capabilities, European defence must innovate, anticipate, and cooperate. This agreement underscores cybersecurity as a core pillar of Leonardo’s industrial plan, scaling up our international presence also through strategic alliances to develop advanced, sovereign technologies designed to protect people, institutions, and infrastructure. By pooling Leonardo’s expertise and proprietary technologies in Cyber & Resilience, Secure Digital & Cloud, and Mission Critical Communications, we aim to transform technological innovation into tangible value for our nations.”
Ángel Escribano, Indra’s executive chairman, recalled that agreements such as the one that’s been signed “regulate and accelerate European industrial cooperation with clear governance to facilitate flexible joint bids and the rigorous execution of projects. Our role as a trailblazing company will enable us to activate value chains based on sovereign, open, and interoperable capabilities for Europe and NATO, ensuring that the critical knowledge and technological property remain under EU control. With interconnected operations centers, advanced threat intelligence sharing and cyber defence training environments, we can turn the collaboration into strategic autonomy and effective deterrence.”
Indra Group CEO José Vicente de los Mozos stated:
“This partnership with Leonardo will allow us to accelerate our innovation and launch solutions that strengthen the digital resilience of systems and operations onto the market, expanding our reach and our impact on the protection of essential infrastructures and services. It constitutes a decisive step towards consolidating the European leadership of cyber defence and projecting it to other countries, providing Europe and its allies with a more robust response to the challenges posed by cyberspace.”
Leveraging its product-based approach, Leonardo provides proprietary platforms tailored to highly demanding sectors such as defense, space, and strategic organizations. Leonardo’s recent partnerships and acquisitions have consolidated a “Made in Europe” security portfolio based on Zero Trust principles and data-centric solutions.
