On Thursday, July 16, 2026, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) unveiled HYPNOSIS (High-Power Soft-Kill Navigation Warfare Air Defense System), a new high-power passive air defense system designed to disrupt GPS/GNSS satellite navigation signals used by aircraft, including swarms of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Designed to simultaneously neutralize and counter multiple aerial threats that rely on GPS/GNSS navigation, the advanced HYPNOSIS navigation warfare (NAVWAR) air defense system will provide a complementary layer of protection alongside kinetic interceptor systems.
Satellite navigation systems aboard aircraft must receive positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) data from satellites to reach their targets accurately. Once these systems are disrupted or neutralized, aerial threats can no longer navigate precisely to their intended targets.

The HYPNOSIS system consists of a network of mobile jamming and spoofing stations operating in coordination to create a comprehensive, adaptive solution. Each station is seamlessly connected to a central command-and-control center, enabling real-time coordination, threat analysis, and rapid response. Strategically deployed around designated protected areas, the stations form an integral part of a layered air defense architecture.
Building on IAI’s extensive and proven operational experience in navigation warfare, HYPNOSIS integrates advanced jamming and spoofing technologies designed to disrupt satellite navigation systems, including sophisticated navigation solutions.
