Galvion, a global leader in the design and manufacture of innovative head protection systems, power and data management solutions, and integrated soldier systems, has introduced the Batlskin Hellbender UL (Ultra-Light) helmet – a new ultralight ballistic head protection system developed to meet the evolving needs of modern armed forces operating at scale and seeking standardization without compromising performance. The Hellbender UL will make its debut at Enforce Tac 2026, taking place in Nuremberg, Germany, from February 23–25.

Galvion’s Hellbender platform has been fielded under multiple international programs, addressing diverse user requirements. In August 2025, Galvion announced the award of a 130 million USD contract from the United States Marine Corps (USMC), which selected a variant of the Hellbender platform for its Integrated Helmet System (IHS) program. The latest version, Hellbender UL, is the result of years of development work, as well as operational experience and user feedback gathered across a wide range of deployment environments (Galvion wins U.S. Marine Corps Integrated Helmet System contract).

Lightweight, Durable, and Fully Mission-Compatible
Designed as a complete head protection system, the Hellbender UL delivers top-tier protection through an optimized shell geometry. An innovative manufacturing process enhances ballistic performance while reducing overall weight, resulting in exceptional structural rigidity and impact resistance. The helmet is available in four sizes (S–XL) and two cut variants, mid cut and full cut, providing an optimal balance between maximum coverage and seamless integration of communication systems.
The Hellbender UL features a low-profile, stable mount, ballistic attachment components, and integrated cable management channels and pass-throughs to minimize snag hazards. It has been engineered for optimal coverage and stability while maintaining compatibility with face shields, night vision devices, chemical and biological protective masks, and other mission-critical systems.
Mid/Full Cut version
Galvion’s premium Apex liner system combines full impact protection with extensive adjustability, ensuring stability, comfort, and durability during prolonged wear. Designed with future integration in mind, the Hellbender UL serves as a scalable foundation for incorporating Galvion’s advanced Cortex computing and digital solutions as operational requirements evolve.
European Manufacturing Base and Support for NATO Forces
Galvion’s helmet system development approach is built on proven regional manufacturing and large-scale delivery capabilities. The company has made significant investments in local production and supply chain capacity in Europe, including the establishment of a European Manufacturing Center in Poland to support delivery of the 250,000 Caiman helmets ordered to date under a framework contract with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). As European armed forces continue modernizing their soldier systems, Galvion remains committed to further expanding this regional model, supporting broader adoption of its helmet platforms, including the Hellbender UL (Galvion to deliver over 250,000 Caiman ballistic helmets to NATO).
The new Hellbender UL will be showcased at Enforce Tac 2026 in Nuremberg (February 23–25). At Booth 9-556, Galvion will also present its full range of head protection systems, as well as power and data management solutions.
