Both companies bring complementary, field-proven counter-drone technologies to the cooperation, including unmanned aircraft detection based on machine learning, or artificial intelligence, electronic warfare (EW) systems, and command-and-control (C2) software.
The agreement establishes a structured framework for validating, building interoperability, and operationalizing complementary counter-unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities, with the aim of coordinated market cooperation between DroneShield and Terma. This cooperation also opens the way for customers around the world, including in Denmark, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region, to strengthen existing long-term air defense frameworks as threat environments evolve.
The agreement reflects the growing importance of multilayered counter-unmanned aerial vehicle solutions, providing users with flexibility in selecting sensor technologies best suited to their specific environment and threat profile. Through advanced artificial intelligence-based sensor integration, users gain improved situational awareness and greater accuracy in detecting and classifying unmanned aerial vehicles, which is crucial for enabling a timely and decisive operational response.
Louis Gamarra, chief commercial officer at DroneShield, said the cooperation strengthens both companies’ ability to respond to changing requirements in air defense and countering unmanned aerial vehicles.
“Counter-UAS operations increasingly demand interoperable, multi‑sensor solutions that can be deployed rapidly and scaled across diverse operational environments. Partnering with Terma allows DroneShield to combine our battle‑proven counter‑UAS and command‑and‑control capabilities with Terma’s advanced air defence technologies, creating a compelling pathway for customers seeking to enhance layered defence outcomes.”
Steen Trier, Vice President, Global Sales at Terma said the MOU supports customers seeking to strengthen counter‑UAS capability within established frameworks.
“Terma works closely with defence customers operating in complex and demanding environments. This collaboration with DroneShield enables us to complement existing capabilities with additional counter‑UxS solutions, supporting customers as operational requirements continue to evolve.”
As military and security customers in Europe and the Middle East continue to prioritize counter-unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities, this agreement opens the way for DroneShield and Terma to jointly explore new opportunities and deliver coordinated, deployable solutions aligned with modern operational requirements.
