Currently, Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. is carrying out deliveries of equipment (two Regina division fire modules, DMO Regina) ordered in September 2022. In turn, implementation of the most recent (to date) executive contract from December 2024 is scheduled to begin in 2027; it covers four Regina DMOs, including two equipped with modernized Krab 2 self-propelled howitzers. In addition, the issue of further orders remains open, as the framework agreement signed in December 2023 allows for the procurement of additional Krab 2 self-propelled howitzers (56 units in total). If the full option is exercised, the Polish Armed Forces could field a total of 236 Krab/Krab 2 self-propelled howitzers.
In addition to the production of brand-new 155 mm barrels intended for the assembly of self-propelled howitzers, there is also a need to maintain reserve stocks to account for barrel wear. As demonstrated by experience from the conflict in Ukraine, some Krab howitzers supplied to Ukrainian forces have fired more than 7,000 rounds and still retain their accuracy.
