On Thursday, April 16, 2026, the Czech holding company Czechoslovak Group (CSG) announced that its Italian subsidiary Fiocchi Munizioni is launching a new generation of small-caliber ammunition for countering Class C-sUAS (Counter-small UAS) drones.

The ammunition enables soldiers to effectively counter small unmanned aerial vehicles using standard firearms. The solution was recently presented at Enforce Tac 2026 in Nuremberg, one of Europe’s leading trade fairs dedicated to internal and homeland security.
The new ammunition is a response to the rapidly evolving threat posed by small commercial and improvised drones, which have become a defining feature of the modern battlefield. While traditional air defense systems are often ill-suited to countering cheap, low-flying UAVs at close range, Fiocchi’s solution provides a simple and immediately available last-line defense at the level of the individual soldier.
Designed for standard assault rifles
Unlike many existing solutions that rely on shotguns or specialized systems, Fiocchi’s anti-drone ammunition is intended for use in standard assault rifles, including widely used NATO calibers such as 5.56 × 45 mm. This allows soldiers to respond to drone threats without requiring additional equipment or changes in training.
The ammunition uses a projectile with a copper jacket containing 23 tungsten balls measuring 2 mm in diameter, with a total projectile weight of 77 grains (approx. 4.99 g), along with a polymer ballistic tip. The casing breaks apart in flight and releases the payload. This significantly increases the probability of hitting small, fast-moving unmanned aerial vehicles while maintaining controlled effects to reduce the risk of collateral damage, especially in complex or urban environments.
“The proliferation of small drones has fundamentally changed the battlefield. Armed forces are increasingly looking for simple, immediately available solutions that can be deployed at the level of individual soldiers. By enabling counter-drone capability directly through standard-issue rifles, we are helping address one of the most urgent operational gaps identified in recent conflicts,” said Petr Marijczuk, CEO of the CSG Ammo+ division.

The ammunition is intended primarily for the armed forces, including infantry and special operations forces, as well as security units operating in high-risk environments. Typical applications include close-range defense for soldiers, patrols, and convoys, as well as the protection of forward positions and critical infrastructure. This ammunition is also intended for law enforcement agencies operating in urban environments.
Tested with the participation of special forces
The new ammunition was developed in close cooperation with the Italian armed forces, and testing was carried out by special operations units and the Italian Army. The product also underwent extensive validation testing in realistic operational scenarios, confirming its effectiveness against small unmanned aerial vehicles.
Following its presentation at Enforce Tac 2026, Fiocchi is engaging with international customers and preparing the product for market introduction and industrial-scale production. The company is also working to expand the concept to additional calibers, including 5.45 × 39 mm and 7.62 × 51 mm, in response to growing demand from different user groups.
“This new product demonstrates how CSG companies translate battlefield experience into scalable industrial solutions. Leveraging our international production footprint, we are able to deliver reliable and cost-effective ammunition that can be rapidly integrated into existing force structures,” added Petr Marijczuk.
The introduction of the new product further strengthens Fiocchi’s position in the defense segment and expands CSG’s portfolio in the rapidly growing field of counter-unmanned aerial systems.
