On Monday, February 9, 2026, the U.S. company BAE Systems Inc. (part of the UK-based BAE Systems) announced that it had received contracts totaling 137 million USD from the United States Army Contracting Command (ACC) to supply AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems (CMWS) to allied nations under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. The system helps protect aircraft and their crews by enhancing survivability against missiles and other advanced threats.
CMWS detects infrared- and radio frequency-guided missiles, unguided munitions, and other threats, and then automatically activates real-time alerts and countermeasures. The system is installed on more than 40 types of aircraft worldwide, both helicopters and fixed-wing platforms. Under the new contract, CMWS will protect the air fleets of more than 20 countries.
“International customers continue to choose CMWS for its proven effectiveness and reliability in combat, where it has saved many lives,” said Jared Belinsky, director of Integrated Survivability Solutions at BAE Systems. “We are proud of this legacy and look forward to continuing to support U.S. coalition partners.”
BAE Systems has delivered more than 3,000 CMWS units worldwide to date. The company continues to fulfill deliveries ahead of schedule, underscoring its commitment and ability to rapidly provide critical operational capabilities to service members.
BAE Systems’ missile warning systems, including the 2-Color Advanced Warning System used by the United States Army, are key components of the company’s layered platform protection approach known as Intrepid Shield. The Intrepid Shield concept leverages the full electromagnetic spectrum to detect, analyze, and counter evolving threats.
CMWS is designed and manufactured at BAE Systems facilities in Huntsville, Alabama; Austin, Texas; and Nashua, New Hampshire.
