“The tenth anniversary of Airbus Helicopters Polska is a testament to a decade of remarkable growth and innovation. The design office in Łódź has become a cornerstone of our global engineering network, driven by the outstanding talent and dedication of our Polish team,” said Alain de Zotti, Executive Vice President of Engineering at Airbus Helicopters. “The teams in Łódź and Stryków have played a key role in groundbreaking innovation projects such as the high-speed Racer demonstrator, as well as in new programs like the H140, and in continuously enhancing the capabilities of our existing fleets. We are incredibly proud of what our teams in Poland have achieved and are excited to continue investing in critical competencies and the promising future we are building together in this country.”
Airbus Helicopters Polska is based in Łódź and conducts testing operations in Stryków. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus Helicopters, employing over 130 people, and is certified by EASA with a Design Organisation Approval (DOA) for Airbus Helicopters. Every year, its highly skilled specialists contribute around 170,000 working hours. Their expertise covers key areas such as the design of structural components (doors, fairings, structural flight control elements, composite parts, fuel systems), onboard installations, and mechanical components (drive system parts, rotor components). The team also performs advanced stress analysis, including linear and nonlinear calculations, fatigue, dynamics, vibration, modal and buckling analyses, as well as highly detailed assembly-level computations. Additionally, Airbus Helicopters Polska carries out critical testing of helicopter mechanical parts at its own test center and in specialized facilities, such as the wind tunnel at the Institute of Aviation in Warsaw.
Engineers in Łódź and Stryków actively contribute to flagship projects such as the H140, H145, H145M, and H160 helicopters, the Racer, DisruptiveLab, and PioneerLab demonstrators, and the modernization of existing fleets including the H125, H135, and rotorcraft from the Super Puma and Dolphin families. They also play a key role in standard parts management, workflow lifecycle management, 3D design, storage condition management, qualification, data analysis, and data management.
As part of the 10th anniversary celebrations, Airbus Helicopters also announced a new partnership in Poland—an agreement with the Polish Air Force University in Dęblin aimed at exploring the potential for strategic cooperation in education and innovation. This includes organizing joint seminars and conferences, lectures on helicopter technologies delivered by Airbus Helicopters experts, internships and placements for students and faculty, and collaborative work on innovation initiatives such as helicopter diagnostics.
