On Tuesday, 25 November 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on social media the delivery to the Polish Armed Forces of the third batch of Rosomak 8×8 wheeled infantry fighting vehicles equipped with 30 mm Remote Controlled Turret Systems (ZSSW-30).

“New batches of military equipment are being delivered to units across Poland! The 21st Podhale Rifles Brigade of the 18th Mechanized Division has just received 14 new Rosomak wheeled infantry fighting vehicles equipped with the remotely controlled turret system – ZSSW-30. We are getting stronger and stronger!” wrote the Minister of National Defense on the social platform X.
“The population of predators is growing in strength. The Podhale Rifles from Rzeszów are receiving 14 Rosomak carriers with unmanned turrets. This is yet another product from a Polish manufacturer that meets the requirements of our armed forces,” wrote Deputy Minister of National Defense Paweł Bejda, responsible for overseeing the technical modernization of the Polish Armed Forces.
“Good news – more Rosomaks are successfully reaching the end user. This is the role of the Armament Agency,” the Armament Agency also confirmed the deliveries.
The 1st Podhale Rifles Battalion of the 21st Podhale Rifles Brigade has already received two batches of Rosomak wheeled infantry fighting vehicles with the ZSSW-30. The first batch, consisting of five vehicles, was delivered on 14 December 2023, while the second – of undisclosed quantity – was delivered on 18 December 2024. In the meantime, on 26 January 2024, the first live-fire tests under training-ground conditions were reported, followed by another series on 10 March of this year.
Deliveries are being carried out under the first implementation contract of 5 July 2022 for 70 ZSSW-30 units, which are to be integrated with vehicle chassis already in service, along with a logistics and training package. The value of that contract was nearly 1.7 billion PLN, with the implementation period set for 2024–2027.
The second execution contract was signed on 8 July 2024 and covers the delivery of another 58 complete vehicles for approximately 2.6 billion PLN gross, with deliveries scheduled for 2026–2027. The framework agreement provides for a total of 341 Rosomak vehicles equipped with the ZSSW-30. The parties to the agreement are the State Treasury – Armament Agency and a consortium comprising Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), the Polish Armaments Group, Rosomak, and WB Electronics (part of the WB Group).
On 21 November 2022, WB Electronics signed a four-year contract worth over 206 million PLN with PCO for the supply of Commander’s Optoelectronic Heads (GOD-1) and Gunner’s Optoelectronic Heads (GOC-1), intended for integration with the ZSSW-30.
According to their intended role, Rosomak APCs equipped with the ZSSW-30 are designed to engage armored targets as well as enemy positions and fortifications, and to provide fire support to subunits during combat operations. The optoelectronic systems used in the ZSSW-30 enable mission execution regardless of the time of day and in difficult weather conditions. The equipment has also been adapted to operate in harsh climatic environments.
The main armament of the ZSSW-30 is the Bushmaster Mk 44S automatic cannon, which allows both automatic and semi-automatic fire using five different types of ammunition, including programmable rounds. The secondary armament is a modified 7.62 mm UKM-2000C machine gun coaxially mounted with the cannon. Additional armament includes a dual launcher for Spike anti-tank guided missiles. The weapons can be reloaded both from the outside and from inside the vehicle.
The commander and the gun operator can independently observe, detect, identify, and track ground and aerial targets, including using the autotracker function. Additionally, the crew can operate in a hunter-killer mode, in which the commander locates and identifies a target and then transfers the designated target to the gun operator’s display for tracking and engagement.
The ZSSW-30 systems will fully replace the Leonardo OTO Melara Hitfist-30P turrets. Work on the new turret was commissioned on 29 March 2013 by the then Armament Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defense and assigned to a consortium of HSW and WB Electronics. Initially planned to take two years, the project was ultimately extended. Qualification tests of the two ZSSW-30 prototypes mounted on Rosomak vehicles began in January 2020 and were completed on 1 October 2021.
The next ordered vehicles equipped with ZSSW-30 turrets will be 80 modernized Rosomak-L (Long) infantry fighting vehicles with an extended hull. A total of 80 vehicles were ordered on 17 December 2024 for approximately 4.3 billion PLN, with deliveries scheduled for 2027–2028. These vehicles will feature increased payload capacity, a new engine, and will be an amphibious variant equipped with a wave breaker.
In the next stage, ZSSW-30 systems are expected to be integrated into the planned 1,000 Borsuk tracked infantry fighting vehicles, the first batch of 111 units of which was ordered on 27 March of this year for approximately 6.57 billion PLN gross. The first deliveries are expected in the coming weeks. It cannot be ruled out that the system, in its current or modified form, will also be installed on several hundred Ratel heavy infantry fighting vehicles (CBWP) and several hundred next-generation wheeled armored personnel carriers (KTO) in their combat variants, which will be developed under the Serwal program.
