Scientific Research Cooperation between Warsaw University of Technology and Hyundai Rotem

Hyundai Rotem Company and Warsaw University of Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint research and development in defense technologies, including the 2-ton Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) produced by the Korean company.

On Wednesday, 17 July 2024, Hyundai Rotem Company and Warsaw University of Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint research and development in defense technologies, including the 2-ton Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) produced by the Korean company.

The agreement aims to leverage the research achievements and potential of Warsaw University of Technology, particularly the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies (CEZAMAT), to enhance the systems supplied or offered to Poland by Hyundai Rotem.

The University will gain access to the world’s most advanced military technologies developed by its Korean partner, enabling it to acquire additional competencies that will strengthen its competitive position in the scientific and technological research market and offer students educational opportunities in the area of the most advanced solutions. The agreement also paves the way for the exchange of academic staff between the two countries and the implementation of internships at renowned facilities in Poland and Korea.

Following the signing of the MoU, the Vice-Rector for Development of the Warsaw University of Technology, Prof. Adam Woźniak, said:

The achievements of our scientists and engineers should be applied as often as possible in industrial solutions. I know the university teams and I know they can create great R&D consortia. I am convinced that our cooperation with Hyundai Rotem will be insightful and fruitful for both sides.

Jeong Yeob Lee, Vice President of Hyundai Rotem Company for Defense Systems, commented:

Hyundai Rotem is committed to Poland for decades. We want to jointly develop our systems to best meet the needs of Polish customers. Cooperation with specialists from the renowned Warsaw University of Technology will allow us to offer the Polish Army solutions tailored to its requirements.

The signed agreement will be valid for 5 years with the option to extend for any period.
