On Monday, July 28, 2025, Zakłady Chemiczne Nitro-Chem, a company within the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), announced details of the funding it will receive for the production of 155 mm ammunition from the Capital Investment Fund, administered by the Ministry of State Assets.
According to information released on July 2, Nitro-Chem is one of four companies within the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) that will receive funding from the Capital Investment Fund (FIK) to support development efforts. The other beneficiaries are Zakłady Metalowe Dezamet, Mesko, and the Special Production Plant Gamrat (2.4 billion PLN for PGZ to Support Production of 155 mm ammunition).
In the case of the Nitro-Chem plant, 113,304,300 PLN will be allocated for the purchase of technological lines used in the filling (elaboration) of large-caliber 155 mm ammunition.
The goal of the project is to expand Nitro-Chem’s production capacity in line with operational programs outlined in the Polish Armed Forces’ Technical Modernization Plan. This will be achieved through a technological and organizational transformation of the company, including the expansion of its infrastructure and production lines. The investment will enable Nitro-Chem to multiply its output of large-caliber ammunition filled with explosives. The company will acquire machinery and equipment for shell filling using two techniques: pouring and screw extrusion (PGZ’s with a concept for building three new ammunition factories).
As part of the investment project, Nitro-Chem will increase its production capabilities through the following steps:
- Demolition of existing buildings and site preparation
- Design of new buildings, along with supporting technical infrastructure
- Construction of Buildings 1, 2, and 3, plus a curing facility and related infrastructure
- Delivery and installation of the ammunition filling lines
The total value of the investment is 113,304,300 PLN, fully financed by the Capital Investment Fund.
Zakłady Chemiczne Nitro-Chem is a strategic entity within the PGZ Group, a leading global producer of explosives, and a key exporter in the Polish defense industry. It is the primary supplier of such materials not only to the Polish Armed Forces, but also to several foreign partners, including the United States (with contracts signed on April 9, 2025; April 14, 2024; and November 7, 2023 for TNT deliveries to U.S.-based Paramount Enterprises International), as well as Italy, Spain, France, Sweden, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.
