The alarm, activated around 6:00 a.m., was canceled shortly afterward when no real threat was confirmed. The authorities of Lubartów County acknowledged that the incident was caused by a “human error.” The situation occurred in the context of a morning Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv Oblast. Leading politicians commented on the events in Poland (Over 700 Russian drones and missiles attacked Ukraine).

Mayor of Lubartów Krzysztof Paśnik stated:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, after receiving a signal from the County Crisis Management Center, we activated warning signals in Lubartów in accordance with the applicable procedures. The sirens were activated due to the current situation in Ukraine.”
Later, Lubartów County issued a statement regarding the incident:
“On December 6, 2025, at 5:30 a.m., the County Crisis Management Center (PCZK) in Lubartów received, via a streaming channel, a message indicating an immediate threat of an airstrike for Lubartów County. PCZK Lubartów decided to activate Procedure SPO-13, informing crisis management staff from the towns/municipalities within the county of the need to activate alarm sirens. Upon arriving at the location used for monitoring the radio-based warning network, namely, the Lubartów County Office, PCZK staff contacted the duty officer at the Voivodeship Crisis Management Center (WCZK) in Lublin to verify the message about the immediate air threat. The WCZK duty officer did not confirm any information regarding an immediate airborne threat. After receiving this clarification, PCZK staff again contacted municipal officials instructing them to cancel the alert by reactivating the sirens. The Lubartów Starosta was also informed. Alarm sirens warning of an immediate airborne threat were activated in nine municipalities: the town of Lubartów, Ostrów Lubelski, Uścimów, Firlej, Michów, Kamionka, Abramów, Jeziorzany, and Niedźwiada.
The activation of Procedure SPO-13 – regarding warning and alerting of an airborne threat in Lubartów County – did not result from system information confirmed by the WCZK in Lublin, but from unverified information received via streaming monitoring.
This error was caused by human factors.”
Deputy Minister of National Defence Cezary Tomczyk, speaking on TVN24’s Fakty po Faktach, described the situation as a “workplace incident.” However, he stressed that “it is better to activate the siren twice in such circumstances than to fail to activate it once when a real air threat occurs,” while also urging society to treat alarms seriously. The government will examine the matter.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski announced at a Saturday press conference a detailed analysis of the reasons behind the activation of the sirens, noting that “situations that may affect public safety are always subject to special scrutiny, and this will be no different.”
Additionally, the Voivode of Lublin, Krzysztof Komorski, announced that he would convene a videoconference with county leaders and those responsible for County Crisis Management Centers in order to rehearse and review Procedure SPO-13, which is applied during airborne threat situations.
