One million rounds of shotgun ammunition from FAM Pionki for the Polish Police

The Polish National Police Headquarters awarded FAM Pionki – Fabryka Amunicji Myśliwskiej (Hunting Ammunition Factory) – a contract for the supply of 1,000,000 rounds of special 12/70 caliber ammunition, consisting of eight types of cartridges.

On Thursday, September 26, 2024, the Polish National Police Headquarters (KGP) published information regarding the conclusion of a tender process, which has been ongoing since February of this year, for the supply of a total of 1 million rounds of special 12/70 caliber ammunition for smoothbore shotguns, consisting of eight types of cartridges.

The tender was conducted from February 8, 2024, and the order was divided into eight parts based on the type of cartridge. On May 14, 2024, information regarding the opening of bids was published, and the sole bidder for all parts was FAM Pionki – a hunting ammunition factory from Pionki.

The individual parts of the order, along with the bid values, are as follows:

  • Part one: delivery of 100,000 rounds of 12/70 type 1 ammunition with a rubber projectile (17.4 mm in diameter and 4.5 g in weight) for training purposes for 479,700 PLN;
  • Part two: delivery of 40,000 rounds of 12/70 type 2 ammunition with a special projectile containing iron powder and technical talc made of plastic (total mass of 18.3 g) for 280,440 PLN;
  • Part three: delivery of 100,000 rounds of 12/70 type 4 ammunition with a special projectile containing an acoustic-flash charge (powdered mixture of sodium nitrate and magnesium dust) for 516,600 PLN;
  • Part four: delivery of 45,000 rounds of 12/70 type 5 ammunition with a lead projectile (a hollow lead cylinder with a diameter of 16.45 mm and weight of 29.5 g placed in a plastic wad) for 224,721 PLN;
  • Part five: delivery of 35,000 rounds of 12/70 type 6 ammunition with a buckshot projectile containing twelve pellets, each 6.8 mm in diameter and weighing 2 g, for 137,760 PLN;
  • Part six: delivery of 230,000 rounds of 12/70 type 20 ammunition with a rubber projectile for 1,230,615 PLN;
  • Part seven: delivery of 250,000 rounds of 12/70 type 30 ammunition with a rubber projectile for 1,353,000 PLN;
  • Part eight: delivery of 200,000 rounds of 12/70 type 50 ammunition with a rubber projectile for 1,094,700 PLN.

The bids for tasks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 were selected on June 3, while the bids for tasks 6 and 7 were selected on July 25. The contracts were signed on June 24 and August 16, respectively. The total value of all the contracts amounts to 5,317,536 PLN.
