On Friday, 28 November 2025, the Armament Agency, on behalf of the Polish Ministry of National Defence, announced that it had signed a contract worth approximately 100 million USD net (365.61 million PLN net / 449.7 million PLN gross) for the purchase of an additional 11 M88A2 HERCULES (Heavy Equipment Recovery Combat Utility Lifting Extraction System) recovery vehicles and several armament repair and vehicle maintenance workshops, with deliveries scheduled until 2029.

“The capabilities of Poland’s Abrams tanks are increasing. The Armament Agency has signed an agreement for the delivery of additional logistical support for M1A1 and M1A2 tanks – including Hercules recovery vehicles and maintenance workshops” – wrote Paweł Bejda, Deputy Minister of National Defence responsible for overseeing the technical modernization of the Polish Armed Forces, on the X social media platform.
Earlier, on 31 July of this year, an annex was signed for the delivery of 25 M1150 ABV (Assault Breacher Vehicle) engineering vehicles based on the M1A1 Abrams chassis, along with logistics and training packages and a stock of spare parts, worth approx. USD 115 million net (PLN 429.08 million net / PLN 527.77 million gross).
So far, under the contracts for 116 M1A1FEP (Firepower Enhancement Package) tanks and 250 M1A2SEPv3 (System Enhanced Package version 3; 85 of which have been delivered), 38 M88A2 HERCULES recovery vehicles have been procured, of which 12 have already been delivered by the manufacturer, BAE Systems, since June 2023. These will be complemented by 25 M1074 JAB (Joint Assault Bridge) bridge-laying vehicles, including 17 for the M1A2SEPv3 and 8 for the M1A1FEP.
On 16 November 2023, when reporting on negotiations regarding the M1150 ABV, the Armament Agency also announced further plans to purchase additional M88A2 HERCULES vehicles and containerized automotive and tank workshops.
It is worth noting that the package accompanying the M1A1FEP tanks, which received approval on 6 December 2022, included, among other things, 26 M1152A1 HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) armored vehicles for transporting soldiers and equipment, as well as 26 M1279A1 JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) armored transport vehicles.
