Both partners bring complementary capabilities to this strategic collaboration. Polish company Advanced Protection Systems is a specialized manufacturer of FIELDctrl 3D MIMO radars and SKYctrl counter-drone systems. In contrast, Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is an international defense enterprise with experience in short- and medium-range air defense systems, including counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS).
The agreement establishes a formal framework for cooperation between Advanced Protection Systems and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, combining their complementary competencies, resources, and technological expertise.
Both companies have identified the growing global market demand and urgent defense needs for counter-drone solutions, with an initial focus on Poland and Norway, where national and allied security infrastructure is increasingly exposed to threats from unmanned aerial systems on NATO’s eastern flank (Advanced Protection Systems launches Interceptor Drone).
Under the agreement, the two companies have committed to:
- Joint identification and execution of counter-UAS business opportunities;
- Proposing, securing, and implementing integrated solutions that combine radars, sensor fusion, command and control (C2) systems, and kinetic and non-kinetic effectors;
- Exchanging technical and business knowledge to enable the development of efficient, scalable, and interoperable counter-drone systems.
“The partnership with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace marks another step toward strengthening European counter-drone capabilities. By combining our battle-proven FIELDctrl radars and SKYctrl C-UAS technologies with Kongsberg’s decades of experience in air defense, we are creating solutions that are not only highly effective but also fully interoperable within NATO. In light of the increasing threats along the Alliance’s eastern flank, securing civilian and military critical infrastructure remains our top priority,” said Maciej Klemm, co-founder and CEO of Advanced Protection Systems.
“With the rapid escalation of drone threats—both on the battlefield and in the context of protecting critical infrastructure—the need to deploy resilient, combat-proven counter-UAS systems is no longer optional, but essential,” said Erik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
This agreement strengthens Poland’s position as a regional innovation hub for counter-drone technologies, supported by Advanced Protection Systems’ extensive experience and solutions. It also reflects Norway’s increasing role in European air defense integration, with Kongsberg contributing decades of expertise in missile and air defense systems to the C-UAS domain.
The cooperation between Kongsberg and APS reflects both companies’ commitment to industrial collaboration aligned with NATO objectives, aimed at reinforcing the European security architecture.
