On Friday, 28 November 2025, the private Ukrainian company UkrArmoTech announced on social media that it had begun field tests of two new armored vehicles: the UAT-D Giurza-03 and the UAT Desna. The company was established after the outbreak of the full-scale war with Russia in response to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, developing such vehicles as the UAT-D Giurza-01, the upgraded Giurza-02, the UAT-T Cobra (with deliveries since May this year), and the UAT-TISA. This February, it made its debut at the IDEX 2025 international exhibition in Abu Dhabi, where it presented its vehicles to international buyers, marking a step toward expansion beyond the Ukrainian market, and later in July at IDEF 2025 in Istanbul.

As reported, the first model was created in response to the military’s need for the safe transport of ammunition. Currently, all tactical transport and combat vehicles, including the UAT-D Giurza-01 and UAT-D Giurza-02 based on Dodge and Toyota chassis respectively, enable the transport of military personnel, equipment, supplies, and ammunition – all within the same troop compartment.
This was not safe, the company emphasizes. Therefore, a fully enclosed five-person capsule-type cabin was developed, and the cargo compartment for ammunition transport was separated from the troop compartment.
Moreover, the modular design, which was developed on the basis of the UAT-D Giurza-02 structure, allows the UAT-D Giurza-03 platform, this time based on a Ford chassis, to carry various types of equipment weighing up to 3 tons. In particular, it enables configuring the platform for a CBRN reconnaissance vehicle, mobile air-defense systems, radars, and light artillery systems (mortars).
However, the main task of the new UAT-D Giurza-03 is the safe transport of personnel, cargo, ammunition, and mortars.
The second platform being tested is the UAT Desna tactical vehicle, which is the company’s own initiative in response to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ need for a multi-purpose, high-mobility off-road vehicle with an unladen weight of up to 8 tons. It is a vehicle developed on an in-house chassis.
As noted, several attempts have already been made in Ukraine to develop a multi-purpose off-road SUV-class vehicle, but these projects were never brought to a logical conclusion and did not enter mass production.
Therefore, a model was developed which, according to the company’s estimates, features the required level of ballistic protection, ergonomics, and functionality, and should fit into the line of serially produced armored vehicles for the Ukrainian military. During the development process, the company’s engineers took into account the best models of leading manufacturers used in the armed forces of many countries, as well as those used by the Russians on the battlefield, for completeness of evaluation and conclusions.
The UAT Desna is a new model of Ukrainian multi-purpose four-wheel-drive vehicle with a total weight of up to 8 tons. Its automatic transmission and engine are reliable and easy-to-maintain solutions, also used in other vehicles produced by the company.
Desna, like the Giurza family, has a modular design: it can be configured as a command vehicle or a medical evacuation vehicle, and in the pickup version the rear cargo area can be closed or open. Both variants feature optimal axle load distribution, ensuring reliable movement even in difficult terrain.
