Deliveries are scheduled for 2029–2030. Previous orders were received on 11 February this year for approximately 700 million SEK and on 3 April this year for 880 million SEK. BAE Systems Hägglunds, headquartered in Örnsköldsvik, is responsible for the development and production of the CV90 (Combat Vehicle 90) family of infantry fighting vehicles, which are equipped with UTAAS systems manufactured by Saab. The company has increased production to meet growing demand.
“The increasing global demand for the CV90 underscores its proven capabilities and reliability on the battlefield. Our long-standing partnership with BAE Systems Hägglunds has enabled us to enhance our production capacity for the UTAAS, ensuring that we can meet the growing needs of our customers“, says Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab’s business area Surveillance.

The orders were placed by Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Finland, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Lithuania is expected to join them soon.
UTAAS is a modular, integrated targeting and fire control system designed for the CV90, intended to engage both ground and aerial targets. The system’s sight, operating in elevation from –10° to +45° and in azimuth ±18°, is equipped with a daylight camera (with 8× magnification and an 8° field of view), a third-generation thermal imaging camera (operating in the 8–12 μm range), and a laser rangefinder (with a wavelength of 1.54 µm and a frequency of 4 Hz). It provides high firing effectiveness at ranges of up to 2,000 m, including while moving at speeds of up to 30 km/h, while the maximum range is 5,000 m. To date, 1,100 UTAAS systems have been produced. The UTAAS system has been combat-proven in Afghanistan, Liberia, and most recently in Ukraine.
