On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the Armament Agency and the Ministry of National Defence announced on social media that a shipment from the Republic of Korea had arrived in Poland with the fourth batch this year of K2GF Heuk-Pyo (Black Panther) tanks and the third batch of K9A1 Thunder 155mm self-propelled howitzers.
“This is a busy week for military logisticians, tank crews, and artillerymen who are receiving new equipment from the Polish Armaments Group, which has resumed deliveries of Krab howitzers. At the same time, we are taking delivery of 9 K2 tanks and 15 K9 howitzers – 3 of which will be sent to HSW, where they will be repainted in new camouflage patterns,” wrote Paweł Bejda, Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence, responsible for overseeing the technical modernization of the Polish Armed Forces, referring to Monday’s delivery of AHS Krab.
“As we mentioned earlier, the latest batch of K9 howitzers includes three additional units, which will not go to a frontline unit but to HSW, where they will be repainted and then, in the fall, tested and evaluated at the Military Institute of Engineer Technology before entering service,” reads a statement on the Armament Agency’s social media profile.
This means that, so far, the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem has delivered 160 of the 180 K2GF Heuk-Pyo (Black Panther) tanks ordered by Poland. Previous deliveries this year took place on August 12, May 6, and June 4. They come under the first executive contract signed on August 26, 2022, worth 3.37 billion net USD (15.98 billion PLN net / 19.65 billion PLN gross). The remaining 20 are scheduled to arrive by the end of this year.
On August 1, 2025, a second contract was signed for approximately 6.5 billion USD (23.97 billion PLN) for an additional 180 tanks, including 116 K2GF tanks for delivery between 2026 and 2027, and 64 vehicles in the locally configured K2PL configuration (61 of which will be assembled in Poland). The order also covers 81 support vehicles of three types: 31 armored recovery vehicles, 25 engineering vehicles, and 25 bridge layers – all of which will be designed and built in Poland. All contracts are part of a framework agreement for a total of 1,000 K2GF/PL tanks.
As for the K9A1 Thunder howitzers, the new delivery raises the total to 165 units. The two previous deliveries this year took place on July 14 and February 21. Deliveries are being made under the first executive contract, also signed on August 26, 2022, worth 2.4 billion USD net (11.38 billion PLN net / 13.99 billion PLN gross), with Hanwha Defense (now Hanwha Aerospace), under which 212 K9A1 howitzers are to be delivered between 2022 and 2026.
On December 1, 2023, the Armament Agency signed a second executive contract worth 2.6 billion USD net (10.33 billion PLN net / 12.81 billion PLN gross) for the delivery of an additional 6 K9A1 howitzers in 2025, and 146 K9PL howitzers in 2026–2027. On December 2, 2024, the Ministry of Defence announced the start of this order’s execution. On December 23, 2024, the ministry signed a separate contract with Huta Stalowa Wola worth nearly 8 billion PLN for the delivery of more than 250 support vehicles for the K9 self-propelled howitzers.
