Slovak soldiers equipped with Grand Power rifles
Slovak soldiers will be equipped with rifles, carbines, and pistols from a domestic manufacturer—the well-known Grand Power company from Slovenská Ľupča, familiar to readers of MILMAG magazine. The primary weapon will be the 5.56×45 mm M4M1 rifle with a 368 mm (14.5 in) barrel, complemented by a carbine with a 280 mm (11 in) barrel and the R10 designated marksman rifle in 7.62 mm caliber, most likely with a 508 mm (20 in) barrel. Secondary weapons will include Stribog AP9A3 9×19 mm submachine guns, while K100 Mk.23 pistols will be carried in holsters. The manufacturer also offers dedicated sound suppressors, making its portfolio essentially complete.
The biggest surprise is the new camouflage pattern developed by the Armed Forces Academy. It is intended to replace the highly distinctive vz.2007 digital pattern. The adopted design may resemble Multicam Tropic, although with a greater proportion of earth-toned patches. Interestingly, the fabric is produced by the Croatian state-owned company Agencija Alan, and the contract is valued at EUR 36 million. The uniforms are already being sewn in Slovakia, using a new cut also developed by the Armed Forces Academy.
