On Monday, 6 October 2025, the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) signed an investment agreement with ZM Bumar-Łabędy for the implementation of a strategic project co-funded with 850 million PLN from the Capital Investment Fund (FIK).
The project aims to establish the capability within the Gliwice-based company to manufacture modern wheeled and tracked armored vehicles, with the additional capacity to support and secure the production of chassis for the AHS Krab self-propelled howitzer.
“Zakłady Mechaniczne Bumar-Łabędy play an important role within the Polish Armaments Group, just like our other companies located in the Silesian region. Today, the company is gaining a new opportunity, primarily related to the production of K2 tanks. But the potential is much greater, which is why we have provided funds to recapitalize Bumar and expand its production capabilities. We are doing this with full awareness of the challenges facing the entire Group in the area of technical modernization of the Armed Forces. As the Management Board of the PGZ Capital Group, we are committed to the balanced development of all our companies. That is why, after the ammunition domain, it is now time for the next area,” emphasized Adam Leszkiewicz, President of the PGZ Management Board.
In parallel, the investment will include extensive modernisation works across the company’s infrastructure, aimed at reducing energy consumption and achieving high efficiency in production processes.
Thanks to the implementation of this project, Bumar-Łabędy will significantly expand its production capacity for combat vehicles and chassis for artillery systems, thereby strengthening the defense potential of our country.
The investment process is scheduled for completion at the end of 2028.
“The investment being implemented will not only significantly increase our production capabilities but, above all, will strengthen Poland’s defence potential. It is our contribution to building a strong and modern army capable of meeting the challenges of the contemporary battlefield,” emphasized Monika Kruczek, President of the Management Board of ZM Bumar-Łabędy, during the contract-signing ceremony.
