Sightmark Strikon VMP 1–4×22 – the ideal intermediate solution?
The Strikon VMP 1–4×22 is Sightmark’s newest riflescope, representing an intriguing innovation in the optics world. It is an unusual design – featuring a prism-based optical system with smooth 1–4× magnification adjustment, a feature typically found only in conventional, axially aligned scopes. Additional distinguishing elements include combining these characteristics in a very compact form factor and using the popular Aimpoint Micro mounting standard.

“The boundary between speed and precision has always posed a challenge for modern shooters. Traditional LPVOs offer magnification but sacrifice speed, while red dot sights provide rapid target acquisition but lack extended visual reach. The new Sightmark Strikon VMP 1–4×22 SFP fills this gap – designed by professionals for professionals who require both capabilities at once.
With its compact prism construction and true 1× magnification, the Strikon VMP gives shooters an undistorted sight picture that feels as natural as shooting with both eyes open. Whether it’s training in confined indoor spaces or engaging steel targets at medium range, the scope transitions seamlessly from instinctive target acquisition to controlled precision — solving one of the most common problems faced by tactical, competitive, and hunting shooters.“

Features of Sightmark Strikon VMP 1-4x22
Optics – a prism with variable magnification
Prism sights typically come with fixed magnification. In a prism system, the axially aligned lenses are replaced with specially shaped optical prisms that redirect light, allowing the optic to be significantly shortened. The drawback of such a system is the absence of adjustable magnification. There are scopes on the market that contain two separate prisms, one offering 1× and the other 4× magnification, mounted on a rotating base. In the Strikon VMP 1–4×22, a new solution has been introduced that enables smooth magnification adjustment across the same range, rather than “jumping” from one fixed level to another. The new Sightmark optic represents an intriguing innovation, combining the compactness typical of prism systems with the fluid zoom adjustment of traditional axial designs.
As Sightmark states, the prism is designed to provide a highly natural sight picture without the “tunnel vision” effect and to offer a wide field of view.
The optical system features a simple CRF-4 MIL reticle in the second focal plane. Its central aiming point is illuminated in red via a fiber-optic method. The user can choose from 13 brightness levels – 11 for daytime use and 2 compatible with night-vision devices. Power is supplied by a single CR2032 battery. Battery life is extended through the Shake Awake function, which turns off the illumination after a period of inactivity and reactivates it when motion is detected.
Housing and mounting
The housing is made of 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and is protected against water and dirt, meeting the IP67 standard. According to Sightmark, the Strikon VMP 1–4×22 is built to withstand the rigors of professional use, featuring resistance to drops and shocks.
Importantly, Sightmark decided not to “reinvent the wheel.” Instead of creating its own mounting standard, the company used the widely adopted and proven Aimpoint Micro standard, giving users access to a broad range of third-party mounts. However, the manufacturer still ensured flexibility in height adjustment directly within the included kit — it contains a mount with three riser plates, each raising the optical axis by approximately 10 mm (0.39 in). Thus, when purchasing the scope, the user can choose among four height configurations:
- No risers – lowest setup, optical axis at 29 mm (1.15 in)
- 1 riser – optical axis at 39 mm (1.54 in), equivalent to 1/3 cowitness
- 2 risers – 49 mm (1.93 in)
- 3 risers – 59 mm (2.32 in)
Compact dimensions, low weight
With dimensions of 148 × 56.5 × 78.3 mm, the Strikon VMP 1–4×22 weighs 530 g with the mount installed (1.54-inch configuration).
Availability
The Sightmark Strikon VMP 1–4×22 scope is offered at a price of 419.99 EUR on the manufacturer’s official website.
