On Tuesday, 2 December 2025, the Swedish company Saab Defence and Security announced that it had signed its first contract, valued at approximately 34 million EUR, with the General Directorate of Armaments and Material (DGAM) of the Spanish Ministry of Defence for the delivery of the GAMER Individual Combat Simulation System to the Spanish Army (Ejército de Tierra).

The first executive contract, concluded under a broader framework agreement, covers the delivery of GAMER system components and the provision of related services for infantry soldier training. This includes Personal Detection Devices, laser-based receivers and transmitters worn by soldiers, along with training weapon kits and backpack systems. It also contains an option to expand training capabilities, as the system supports mannequin targets, as well as devices and software enabling communication, interoperability, data recording, and exercise visualization.
Saab Defence and Security will now begin implementing its training systems in Spain in cooperation with its local partner Tecnobit. This will enable realistic combat-condition training across various regiments, up to battalion and company level, throughout the Ejército de Tierra.
“We are really proud to welcome the Spanish Army as a new customer of our live training solutions, which will provide the Army with cutting-edge training capabilities,” said Joakim Alhbin, head of Saab’s Training & Simulation business unit. “This order underscores the growing demand for realistic and interoperable training systems that enable armed forces to prepare for the complex challenges of modern warfare.”
Saab’s GAMER training systems are renowned for their realism and interoperability, enabling soldiers and commanders to train in a simulated environment that closely mirrors real-world conditions. This immersive experience enhances situational awareness, decision-making skills, and overall operational readiness.
The systems delivered under this contract will allow the Spanish Army to conduct a broad spectrum of training activities, from small-unit tactics across various formations to potential large-scale international maneuvers in the future. By leveraging Saab’s advanced technology, the Spanish Army will be able to optimize training effectiveness and ensure its personnel are fully prepared for any mission.
It is worth noting that the GAMER system was previously ordered by the Polish Armament Agency under a contract worth 570.3 million PLN gross, signed on 7 September 2021 during the XXIX MSPO. The agreement covered deliveries of up to 20,024 Battlefield Simulation Systems, including one Comprehensive Battlefield Simulation System (KSSPW) for installation at the Land Forces Training Center in Drawsko Pomorskie (CSWL Drawsko), as well as four Laser Shooting Simulator Sets (LSS) for installation at the Land Forces Training Centers in Żagań, Orzysz, Wędrzyn, and Nowa Dęba. The system debuted during the Ryś-23 tactical exercise conducted by the 12th Szczecin Mechanized Division at the Drawsko Combat Training Center.
