On Thursday, February 27, 2025, the German company Rohde & Schwarz established a partnership with the Italian ELT Group (Elettronica S.p.A.) for the supply of components for electronic warfare (EW) systems for the Polish Project 106 Miecznik missile frigates and the modernized German F124 Sachsen missile frigates.
This cooperation is based on ELT Group’s ability to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the rigorous technical and commercial standards of Rohde & Schwarz, as well as on the synergistic alignment between the portfolios of both companies.
Rohde & Schwarz recently received a contract for the supply and integration of communication systems, radar electronic support measures, and radar electronic countermeasures (C-ESM/R-ESM/R-ECM) from the R&S KORA family for three German F124 Sachsen-class frigates, as well as communication and radar electronic support measures (C-ESM/R-ESM) for three future Polish Miecznik multi-role frigates. These systems will enhance situational awareness, strengthen early warning capabilities, and improve the self-defense of both Polish and German vessels.
ELT Group’s involvement is part of the framework of Rohde & Schwarz’s recent EW Systems acquisitions, providing the most advanced solutions for R-ESM and R-ECM (Radar Electronic Support Measures / Communication Electronic Support Measures) systems.
“We are continuing our successful collaboration from the F126 project and look forward to a trustworthy cooperation,” Alexander Philipp, Managing Director, Rohde & Schwarz Vertriebs-GmbH explains. “ELT Group’s team has delivered a meaningful expansion to the established R&S KORA solution. This order represents a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two companies and the German-Italian defense cooperation.”
“We are very pleased with the signing of these important contracts with Rohde & Schwarz,” said Domitilla Benigni, ELT Group CEO & COO. “They represent a starting point to further strengthen the value proposition towards our customers, enhanced even more by our long-standing presence in Europe. We look forward to working closely to ensure its successful execution.”
On May 7, 2024, PGZ Stocznia Wojenna, a subsidiary of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), announced that it would supply the external communication system and the Electronic Warfare (EW) system for the Miecznik frigates. Additionally, an Electronic Warfare Academy will be established at the shipyard. PGZ Stocznia Wojenna signed two contracts for the delivery of equipment for the Miecznik frigates with the aforementioned company Rohde & Schwarz.
