On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the press service of the Headquarters of the Western Army Field Command (Markas Pemerintahan Medan Barat Tentera Darat, PMBTD) of the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces (Angkatan Tentera Malaysia) announced on social media that the 61st Royal Artillery Regiment from Johor had introduced into service the FlyEye unmanned aerial system, produced by Poland’s WB Group, during the LKT 2025 exercise (Latihan Kuasa Tembakan; English: Firing Training Power) involving the Reserve Officers Training Unit (PALAPES).

The training, held at the PULADA range (Pusat Latihan Tempur Divisyen) in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan, was observed by the Commander of PMBTD, General Datuk Hj Malek Razak bin Sulaiman; the Commander of the Armed Forces, General Tan Sri Hj Mohd Nizam bin Hj Jaffar; Deputy Minister of Defence YB Adly bin Zahari; the Commander of the Royal Air Force, General Sri Hj Muhammad Norazlan bin Aris; Deputy Army Commander, Lieutenant General Tengku Muhammad Fauzi bin Tengku Ibrahim; Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Ahmad bin Abu Bakar; and senior officers of the land forces.
It was also attended by officers studying under the Malaysian Command and Staff Course (KPSM) Series 54/2025 at the Armed Forces Staff College (MTAT), along with members of the Malaysian Armed Forces.
LKT is the largest annual exercise conducted by the Royal Malaysian Army, serving as a platform to train in the use of weapon systems and capabilities. The involvement of 2,500 soldiers from the land forces, as well as the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, symbolizes the integration of joint operations across all three branches of the armed forces.
This year’s LKT also included reservists from the Reserve Officers Training Unit (PALAPES) of Johor, who took part in direct fire support. For the first time, the FlyEye unmanned aerial system produced by WB Group was demonstrated in tasks of target acquisition and real-time battle damage assessment, integrating modern technology into battlefield operations.
It is worth noting that on December 12, 2024, the WB Group announced that Malaysia had received its first batch of FlyEye unmanned aerial systems. Earlier, Malaysian soldiers had been trained in operating the drones at training facilities located in Silesia.
The exercise also involved Polish-made PT-91M Pendekar tanks from the 2nd Royal Armoured Corps Regiment in Port Dickson, as well as upgraded South Korean–made K200 MIFV armored personnel carriers, enhanced for off-road mobility and crew protection.
