As reported by the Polish Border Guard Headquarters (KG SG), on October 17, officers from the Podlaskie Branch of the Border Guard discovered a tunnel running beneath the border line and the technical road near the village of Kondratki (within the area of responsibility of the Michałowo Border Guard Post).

The tunnel began on the Belarusian side, with its exit located about 20 meters from the border line on the Polish side. This is the second tunnel discovered beneath the Polish-Belarusian border. The first one was found on September 19 by officers from the Narewka Border Guard Post.
Since the beginning of the year, officers from the Podlaskie Branch of the Polish Border Guard have detected over 26,700 attempts to illegally cross the border. Thanks to advanced electronic monitoring systems installed along the barrier, the Polish-Belarusian border is effectively secured.

The First Tunnel in Narewka
In the area of responsibility of the Narewka Border Guard Post, a group of foreign nationals attempted to enter Poland illegally and undetected through a tunnel. The tunnel began on the Belarusian side. Thanks to the electronic barrier, Polish forces were immediately alerted and reached the location where the individuals attempted to cross.
On September 19, officers from the Electronic Barrier Monitoring Center received an alert about an attempt to illegally cross the border from Belarus into Poland. The foreigners tried to cross through an underground tunnel, which started on the Belarusian side near the forest edge. Believing they would remain undetected, they dug under the physical barrier. The Monitoring Center immediately notified border patrols in the field, who prevented the illegal crossing attempt by four individuals. The illegal migrants were forced to return to Belarus.
Although the area near the border on the Belarusian side is officially restricted to Belarusian security services only, migrants continue to appear there with their consent, attempting to cross illegally into Poland.
