On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, a framework agreement was signed at the headquarters of the 4th Regional Logistics Base in Wrocław, under which inspections, technical condition verification, and, if necessary, overhauls of all types of Leopard 2 tanks operated by the Polish Armed Forces will be carried out at Zakłady Mechaniczne Bumar-Łabędy in Gliwice and Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne (WZM) in Poznań.

“The Polish Armaments Group possesses expertise not only in the production of modern weaponry, but also in the servicing, maintenance, and repair of equipment already in service with the Polish Armed Forces. Maintaining the operational readiness of military equipment, particularly through domestic industry, is of critical importance for the functioning of military units. For years, PGZ facilities have been servicing almost all equipment used by the Polish Armed Forces, including armored vehicles. For two decades, our plants have ensured that the Leopard tanks operated by the armored forces remain fully operational. The current agreement extends our cooperation with the military for the coming years,” emphasized Rafał Poradka, Director of the Land Projects Office at PGZ, following the signing of the contract.
The contract covers the years 2025–2028 and is the fourth agreement of this type carried out by the domestic defense industry. Under the most recent contract, nearly 130 implementation agreements were completed in 2024 alone, with a total gross value of approximately 190 million PLN, including 19 related to tank overhauls.
As with previous contracts, a separate implementation agreement will be signed under the framework agreement, covering the verification of a tank’s technical condition. Then, depending on the machine’s condition, additional agreements will be concluded for either the performance of the required level of technical inspection or for a complete overhaul and inspection by the consortium.
Currently, armored units operate Leopard tanks in the A4, A5, and upgraded 2PL/M1 variants, totaling over 230 vehicles. Within the Polish Armaments Group, technical inspections of Leopard tanks are carried out at all maintenance levels, from F1 to F6.
