The meeting program covered first aid, countering disinformation, responding to everyday threats, and an overview of the basic equipment of an emergency backpack. Residents learned how to react to threats related to a drone attack and how to take care of their loved ones. Participants practiced resuscitation, learned how to safely assess a situation, and discovered the mechanisms most commonly used by creators of false information.
In Poniatowa, firefighters from the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service joined the PGZ Foundation team and led part of the workshop on preventing carbon monoxide poisoning. It was this opportunity to work with experts from various services that created an atmosphere of open learning, where everyone could ask questions freely and without hesitation.
The President of the PGZ Foundation, Justyna Wawrzyńska-Bąk, who attended the event, emphasized how important the participants’ engagement is: “I can see that people leave these trainings feeling that this knowledge will genuinely be useful to them. It brings us great satisfaction and only reinforces our commitment to further develop the program. What we observed in Poniatowa was a strong interest in practical knowledge. Every person who, after these sessions, is able to provide first aid or recognize manipulation online, strengthens the safety of the entire community.”
Participants received safety guides, first-aid kits, and educational materials from the PGZ Foundation, while the youngest attendees received coloring books prepared specifically for the program. Poniatowa was the second stop of the pilot program conducted in the Lublin Voivodeship.
The next training sessions will take place next week: on 2 December in Wólka Gościeradowska, on 4 December in Zamość, and on 5 December in Kraśnik. The program is developing thanks to cooperation with the Center for Veterans Beyond State Borders, the 18th Mechanized Brigade, and the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade. The meeting in Poniatowa showed that safety education works best when it takes place close to the community.
