On Friday, 21 November 2025, at the 34th Air Defense Missile Squadron in Bytom, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz took part in the handover of the first serial Pilica Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery System (PSR-A). It is the first of sixteen serial systems which, in accordance with the agreement concluded between the Armament Agency and the PGZ Pilica+ Consortium, will be delivered to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland.

“This is an extraordinary event. We are in Bytom, at the 34th Air Defense Missile Squadron, which forms part of the 3rd Warsaw Air Defense Missile Brigade, responsible for protecting our airspace and ensuring its security. This is the moment of handing over the Pilica artillery-missile systems for anti-aircraft, anti-missile, and anti-drone defense. We are building a multi-layered air defense for the Polish state. It is extremely important to emphasize this multi-layered structure – from the very short-range Pilica, to Narew, all the way to Patriot within the Wisła program,” the Minister of National Defense said in Bytom.
“In all areas we are building an integrated air defense, which is why we have purchased the IBCS management system. We are the second country after the USA to possess this system. Today in Bytom we are handing over further systems within the Pilica program. I am very proud of this and I thank everyone who contributed. This is a positive continuation. (…) I know that we are among exceptional soldiers serving here in Bytom, in this squadron – very well prepared. All of this adds up to strong forces building our air defense, and we need that greatly: good equipment and well-trained soldiers. (…) This is a serious task – one of the largest expenditures when we sum up the Wisła, Narew, and Pilica programs, and soon another major and highly innovative counter-drone defense program will join them, one that will serve as a model for other countries,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Pilica Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery System is an integral component of the Pilica+ Missile and Artillery System, developed under the PGZ-Pilica+ consortium led by the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ). The system is an enhanced version of the basic PSR-A Pilica and has been designed as the lowest tier of Poland’s layered air defense. Its role is to protect military forces and critical infrastructure from aerial threats such as aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missiles.
This year, two adapted versions of the system have already been delivered, and the one currently being handed over is the first brand-new system. According to the contract schedule, one more serial PSR-A Pilica system is planned to be delivered later this year.
“We face many challenges, but those related to air defense are the most expensive, the hardest, and the most demanding. (…) There are many challenges, which is why I thank PGZ and the representatives of its companies for producing and delivering, according to schedule, the equipment that will protect Polish airspace. Thank you for your effectiveness, and congratulations to all who made this moment possible,” said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
