The vehicles were ordered by the Polish Armament Agency in October 2023. In total, the order covered six units of the so-called pilot batch, which were to be delivered in 2025. According to declarations, they are intended for trials and testing of the Polish Armed Forces’ command-and-control system in a multidomain environment.
Unlike the Kroton bis vehicles, the Zawilec Command Vehicles were to receive domestically produced data-processing equipment and communications systems supplied by companies of the WB Group. The Zawilec CVs are intended to support command at brigade and division level. Their equipment includes multi-level ICT systems adapted for processing classified information up to the “Secret” classification level.

Command vehicles based on the Rosomak chassis have been gradually delivered to the Polish Armed Forces since 2018. Initially, they were supplied to the Command Support Regiment of the Multinational Division North East, headquartered in Elbląg, and later also to the 18th Mechanized Division and the 16th Mechanized Division.
In addition to a small batch of Zawilec Command Vehicles, the Polish Armed Forces are expected to receive another batch of twelve Kroton bis Command Vehicles in the near future (with deliveries planned for 2025–26). These were ordered by the Armament Agency in December 2023. Like the earlier vehicles, they are intended to provide coalition-level communications; therefore, the standard of their equipment will differ and is expected to include, among other things, communications systems delivered through the FMS procedure.
