This is an event already being described as a breakthrough moment both for the company and for the entire Polish defense industry – it not only strengthens Mesko’s investment potential but also sends a clear signal to foreign partners that Poland is consistently building a strong, modern industrial base in support of national security and the NATO eastern flank.
Historic Decision, New Opportunities
The Mesko plant in Kraśnik has been covered by a support decision under the Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone (TSSE) EURO-PARK WISŁOSAN, operating under the authority of the Minister of Finance and Economy. The legal basis for issuing this decision is the amendment to the public aid regulations for the defense sector, which has been in force since 11 July 2025. It is this change that opened the way for support for investments related to the production of armaments, explosives, and ammunition—areas that are key from the perspective of national security (Inauguration of the construction of a 155 mm artillery ammunition factory in Kraśnik).
“The inclusion of our Kraśnik plant under a support decision within the Polish Investment Zone is a breakthrough moment not only for Mesko, but for the entire Polish Armaments Group. As the first PGZ company, we are gaining the opportunity to benefit from the new support mechanism provided for the defense sector. This confirms that the direction set by the government is being translated into real actions,” emphasized Renata Gruszczyńska, President of the Management Board of Mesko.
174.6 Million PLN for Investments. Support of Strategic Importance
The new regulations provide that large enterprises, such as Mesko, may receive support amounting to as much as 50% of eligible investment expenditures over a period of 15 years. In practice, this means a corporate income tax (CIT) exemption for the company with a total value of approximately 174.6 million PLN, which will be fully allocated to infrastructure modernization, technological development, and increased production capacity.
The support decision covers one of Mesko’s most important investment projects: increasing production capacity for 155 mm artillery ammunition bodies. This undertaking is of strategic importance, as it responds to the rapidly growing demand of the Polish Armed Forces and NATO allies for artillery ammunition, which has become one of the key elements of modern defense systems (Polish Armaments Group with a concept for building three ammunition factories; The first thousands of 155 mm rounds rolled off Mesko’s production lines. Target: 150,000 shells annually).
A Symbolic Moment in Time, an Important Signal for the Region and Europe
The ceremonial presentation of the support decision took place on 11 December in Baranów Sandomierski during the event Special Economic Zones as Integrators of Ukraine’s Economic Recovery Processes – TSSE EURO-PARK WISŁOSAN Investors’ Meeting 2025.
The funds obtained in the form of a corporate income tax (CIT) exemption will be fully allocated to further investments, modernization, and technological development. “At a time of growing security challenges, this is an absolutely crucial step,” emphasized Mesko Management Board member Krzysztof Marwicki.
A New Chapter for MESKO and the Polish Defense Industry
The support decision for the Kraśnik plant is not only an investment stimulus – it is also a symbolic moment that points the direction of development for the entire industry. By becoming the first PGZ company to benefit from this new form of public aid, Mesko is paving the way for other entities in the defense sector. It is a signal that Poland is not only responding to the needs of its allies, but is also actively building one of the most modern ammunition production systems in the region.
