Over 500 Drones and Missiles Launched Against Ukraine

Russia carried out another air and missile strike on Ukraine overnight, launching 503 aerial weapons, mostly drones, against nine regions.

On Saturday, 8 November 2025, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russia had carried out another air and missile strike, launching 503 aerial weapons, mostly drones, against nine regions since 6:30 p.m. local time the previous day.

Photo: State Emergency Service of Ukraine

The Russians launched:

  • 458 unmanned aerial vehicles, including around 300 Geran/Shahed-type drones and various types of decoy drones (including Gerbera), from the directions of Kursk, Millerovo, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Hvardiiske in Crimea;
  • 25 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Kursk, Voronezh, and Rostov regions;
  • 10 Iskander-K cruise missiles from the Kursk and Voronezh regions;
  • 7 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aero-ballistic/hypersonic missiles launched from above the Tambov region;
  • 3 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea.

The main directions of attack were the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Poltava regions.

The attack was repelled by the Air Force, Air Defence Missile Forces, Electronic Warfare (EW) units, Unmanned Systems units, and mobile air defence groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, as of 10:00 a.m. local time, air defence systems shot down or forced to crash 415 aerial targets, including 406 drones and 9 missiles of various types. Currently, 26 missiles and 52 drones have been confirmed shot down across 25 locations, with debris falling in four sites across different regions of Ukraine. In addition, as of 10:00 a.m., work is ongoing to verify information on the downing or destruction of 10 additional enemy missiles.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy:

Rescue operations continue in Dnipro. Last night, Russia struck the city, hitting a residential building. As of now, it is known that 11 people have been injured, including children. Tragically, one person has been killed. My condolences to the families and loved ones. Dozens of people have been rescued. Unfortunately, one person was also killed in the Kharkiv region, and there are casualties in the Kyiv and Poltava regions. Strikes were also carried out in the Dnipro, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, and attacks on the Odesa region began in the evening.

Everywhere necessary, all emergency services are at work – restoring after the strikes, supporting people, and helping the injured. Russia launched more than 450 attack drones and 45 missiles of various types against Ukraine. The terrorists’ targets remain unchanged: ordinary life, residential buildings, our energy sector, and infrastructure.

The issue lies in the resources for murder, in money – sanctions are needed to deprive Russia of the ability to continue the war it started and is prolonging. We value all the steps our partners have already taken, but the Russian attacks show that pressure must be stronger. There must be a European decision on Russia’s frozen assets, additional sanctions, and further support and strengthening of Ukraine’s defense. For every Moscow strike on our energy system, aimed at harming civilians ahead of winter, there must be a sanctions response against the entire Russian energy sector – without exceptions. Russia’s nuclear energy industry is still not under sanctions, its military-industrial complex still receives Western microelectronics, and there must be more pressure on oil and gas trade. We count on corresponding decisions from the United States, Europe, and the G7 countries. Thank you to everyone who is ready to help and act to protect human life.

State Emergency Service of Ukraine:

Poltava region: Russian attacks last night caused extensive fires in several locations across the region. One person was injured. The fires broke out in different parts of industrial facilities. Most of the fire sources have already been extinguished. Response operations are ongoing.

Night attack on the Kyiv region: four districts came under Russian fire. In the Vyshhorod district, four people were injured by falling debris from a downed unmanned aerial vehicle. In the Obukhiv and Bucha districts, firefighters extinguished infrastructure fires caused by missile strikes. Response operations are ongoing.

The death toll from the Russian strike on a nine-story building in Dnipro has risen to two, as rescuers recovered the body of a woman from the rubble. Eleven people were injured, including two children. The rescue operation is ongoing. Information is being updated.

Donetsk region: Russians once again attacked residential areas, causing fires. Dobropillia: shelling of the private sector – a single-story house burned down; rescuers had to suspend operations due to a second strike. Mykolaivka: an airstrike destroyed a two-story house, and the fire burned for more than 12 hours.
